Vidor dominates Central in

Vidor opened district play Saturday with an impressive 48-27 win over the Beaumont Central Jaguars. Vidor racked up 531 yards in total offense with four different Pirates scoring. On defense, 19 Pirates had at least one tackle and five defenders were credited with a knocked down pass.

Lady Pirates fall to Rockanoos Tuesday

The Rockanoos of Port Neches-Groves came to Pirate Gym Tuesday and left with wins in Freshman, junior varsity and varsity volleyball games. The Freshman team battled their way into a tie-breaker but eventually fell by scores of 17-25, 25-21, 15-25.

Racing at Golden Triangle Raceway moves to Saturday

After rain cancelled the Labor Day Race last Sunday, the American Sprint Car Series agreed to return for a make-up day this Saturday, September 10th. The Gulf South Region officials are challenging top drivers from the other eight divisions of the ASCS racing organize to come take part in the show. Channin Tankersley, from just down the road in Highlands, TX and a consistent competitor at the local track, is the Gulf South 2016 point champion. Also rescheduled is the 3rd annual Brian Boram Memorial Limited Modified Race. Drivers in this class always give it their all during competition.

Pirates shutout Pasadena

The Vidor Pirates dominated the Pasadena Memorial Mavericks Thursday in Pasadena 21-0. The Pirates racked up 434 yards total offense while holding the Mavericks to just 63 yards total offense and only two first downs in the first half, both courtesy of Pirate penalties. Vidor received the kickoff and started on their own 20. Quarterback Maverick Quirante handed the ball off to Hogan Stogner on first down for short gain. On second down, Kolbie Humble raced for a 78-yard touchdown, but a clipping penalty brought it all the way back to the Pirates’ 22.

Eagles thump Pirates 40-

It was a tough night Friday for the Vidor Pirates, with the Barbers Hill Eagles scoring three touchdowns on their first four possessions. BH junior quarterback Cameron Cauthen connected with senior receiver Skylar Langelier for the touchdown and the point after kick made it 0-7 with 10:46 on the clock.
