Clyde Self

Clyde Gordon Self, 87, of Vidor, died Monday, April 23, 2018, at Rayburn Health Care in Jasper. A native of Beaumont to Eli & Hazel (Hewitt) Self, he had lived most of his life in Vidor and was a retired pipefitter. He grew up in Kirbyville and graduated from Kirbyville High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Bean Cemetery in Kirbyville. Visitation will begin 1:00 p.m. Saturday prior to services. Survivors include a nephew and numerous cousins.

Shirley L. Melvin

Shirley L. Melvin, 75, of Vidor, died Friday, April 20, 2018 in Silsbee. A native of Paducah, KY, she was a longtime resident of Vidor. A memorial ser - vice will be scheduled at a later date. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Henry of Vidor; grandson, Adam Hall also of Vidor; sisters, Brenda Housden of Lumberton, and Karen Ali Frost of Paducah, KY.

John Henry Thornell

John Henry Thornell, 80 of Vidor died Friday, April 20th, 2018 at UTMB Hospital in Galveston, Texas. A native of Vidor, Texas, he was a lontime resident of Jacksonville, FL, before moving back to Vidor 7 years ago. John attended First Baptist Church of Vidor, but was a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL. He was retired from the US Navy and served during the Vietnam conflict. John was a Merchant Marines for 30 years after retiring from the Navy. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor with burial to follow at Williamson Cemetery in Vidor. John is survived by his wife of 7 years Pat Lowery of Vidor, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents Benjamin Thornell and Martha Thornell Holland, brothers Victor Kaine Thornell and Walter Thornell, sister Carrie Franks.

Clariece Morse

Clariece Morse, 95 of Vidor died Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. She was a native and lifelong resident of Vidor. Clariece was a longtime active member of Pine Forest Baptist Church in Vidor. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and traveling. Clariece and her husband Jesse “Dub” owned and operated Morse Walgreens Agency of Vidor for many years. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm and funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Pine Forest Baptist Church with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. She was loved by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, and 2 great great great nieces and nephews. Clariece was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Jesse Lee “Dub” Morse, and daughter Hazel Beth Lasseter. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Pine Forest Baptist Church.

Anita Anne Conn

Anita Anne Conn, 70, of Vidor, died Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Vidor Health and Rehab. A native of Beaumont, she lived in of Austin before moving back to Vidor. She worked many years as an LVN before retiring. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. She is survived by her son, Douglas Kevin Conn of Vidor and her granddaughter, Jenna Lynn Estell-Conn of Phoenix, AZ.

Dee French 81 of Vidor died Monday, April 16th, 2018 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont, Texas. She was a native and lifelong resident of Vidor. Dee attended Pecan Acres Baptist Church in Vidor. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and fishing. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Friday, April 20, 2018 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Dee was preceded in death by her husband Earl French and son Doyle Brady, parents Louis and Ellen Brister, 9 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children Dana Wheeler and her husband Steven of Buna, TX, Randy French and his wife Donna of Vidor, TX, Terry Brady and his wife Pam of Vidor, TX, sister Dolly Warren of Sour Lake, TX, 15 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Jessie “Boogie” LeBlanc

Jessie “Boogie” LeBlanc, 69, of Vidor, TX died Monday, April 23rd, 2018 in Beaumont, TX. A native of Beaumont, he was a longtime resident of Vidor and a member of the Vidor group of AA. He loved to play music and had a passion for helping others in need. Visitation will be Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Turning Point Church with memorial services at 12:00 p.m. Boogie is survived by his daughter; Amanda Flanigan and her husband Percy of Vidor, son; Greg LeBlanc and his wife Rachel of Plano, TX, 4 grandchildren; Lauren, Morgan, Logan and Luke. He is also survived by his mother; Norma LeBlanc of Vidor, brother; Ralph LeBlanc of Gaithersburg, MD, sister; Phyllis Livingston of Vidor, and nephews, and his 14 year old chihuahua; Sugar. Boogie was preceded in death by his father; Jesse William LeBlanc Sr. and sister; Cheryl Gibson. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor.

Wilson Berry Stillwell, Sr.

Wilson Berry Stillwell, Sr., of Vidor, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on April 19, 2018, at the age of 105, after a short illness with his family by his side. He was born on January 23, 1913, in Soper, Oklahoma, to Joseph Berry Stillwell and Maggie Massey Stillwell. He lived in Beaumont, Texas, for 23 years before moving to Vidor in 1966 after Lamar University bought the family home in order to build additional dorms and classrooms. He learned hard work at an early age because his father, Joe Stillwell, passed away when he was young, and he had to quit school and work to help support his mother and younger siblings. He worked plowing fields and as a mule-skinner. He also learned to be the best carpenter he could be, and that eventually became his trade. In his early 20’s, he was in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC Camp) for approximately 3 years helping build bridges and roads.

Larrece “Reece” Labove

Larrece “Reece” Labove, 80, of Vidor passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. Reece was born on June 18, 1937 in Cleveland, Texas to parents Ira Lee (Shirley) and Jesse Stedman Majors. She had lived in the Sabine Pass area for 25 years; also in Vidor. Reece worked as a Farmers Insurance Agent for 21 years and she was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Vidor. She enjoyed sewing and loved to cook and spending time with family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ernest Ray “Coonie” Labove; her sister, Ruby Lee Bienvenue. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Donald Wayne Labove and his wife, Kimberly of Petal, MS; her daughter, Lori Labove of Vidor; her sister, Barbie Dee Nichols of Vidor. She is also survived by her four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
