Patsy Willis Smith Long

Patsy Willis Smith Long, 81 of Gary, TX died Thursday, September 26th, 2019 at home surrounded by her family. A native of Beaumont she was a longtime resident of Vidor and was a member of the Eastern Star before moving to Gary 14 years ago. Patsy was very active in sports throughout her life. She played basketball in high school and played co-ed softball after graduating from Vidor High School and went on to bowl on a bowling league. Patsy was an avid fisherman and hunter, and was a devoted and loving wife, mom, granny, and great granny.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 2, 2019 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.

Preston Henry Rachal

Preston was the youngest of 10 children born in Natchitoches, LA to John Blanchard Rachal and Laura LaCaze. His parents only spoke French, so Preston’s first language was French but soon learned English when he started to school. His father died when he was 6 and his mother died when he was 12. He went to school in Many, La where he played & starred in football & basketball. After High School, he moved to Beaumont to attend college. He met the love of his life, Emma while living there. They married in 1958 and he soon started his banking career with American National Bank. He worked several banks in S.E. Texas. He was President 1st Texas bank in Vidor, TX for 5 yrs. He moved back to Security Bank in Anahuac and worked a total of 20 yrs, and served as President until he retired in 2005. He taught AIB courses at Lamar University for several yrs. He was past president of Vidor Rotary Club, past president of Optimist Club and won the Paul Harris Fellow award.

Lawrence “Larry” Rainwater

Lawrence “Larry” Rainwater, 80, of Vidor, TX died Friday, September 27th, 2019 at home with his family by his side. Born 4/27/1939 in Beaumont, TX he was a longtime resident of Vidor and retired from Gulf States Utilities. Larry served his country in the U.S. Army. He loved to travel, go fishing and spend quality time with his family. Larry was a Deacon at Maplecrest Baptist Church and his favorite Bible verse was Psalm 23:4 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

Maxine Bishop Quick

On Sunday, September 29, 2019, Maxine Bishop Baldridge Quick passed away at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, TX. at the age of 87. Maxine was born in Port Arthur, TX on October 29, 1931, to Effie and Violas Bishop. She lived all her growing up years in Port Arthur, Texas. She married Robert Powers Baldridge in 1948, and they had two sons Robert Allen and Raymond Lee. In 1965 she married William Eugene Quick and they had one son Ronald Gene Quick.

She has spent nearly the last fifty years living in Vidor, TX. where she was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church. As a Widow for the last 20 years, Maxine enjoyed her Red Hats group the Rhinestone Red Hatters, lunch once a month with the “Lunch Bunch”, bingo at the community center, attending Pine Forest Baptist Church, and the arrival of ten great grandchildren. She was quite active until the summer of 2018 when she moved to Oakwood Manor Nursing Home in Vidor.

Marilee Mahana

Marilee Mahana 69, of Vidor died September 28th, 2019 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. A native of Provo, Utah, she was a longtime resident of Vidor. Marilee was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Vidor. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Marilee spent her time with family and enjoying music.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, October 4, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Vidor with burial to follow at Williamson Cemetery in Vidor.

Emma Lee McLane

Emma Lee McLane, 79, of Sour Lake, TX died Monday, September 23rd, 2019 at her home surrounded by family. A native of Lufkin, TX she was a longtime resident of Vidor before moving to Sour Lake. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and watching basketball. Emma also enjoyed attending Vidor Church of Christ where she was a member but her passion was spending quality time with her grandchildren and attending all their events.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 26, 2019 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Friday, September 27, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.

Robert Paul Greenwood

Robert Paul Greenwood, 47, of Vidor, TX died Wednesday, September 25th, 2019 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. A native of Watertown, NY he was a longtime resident of Vidor and worked as an Iron Worker for Motiva. He enjoyed watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys, playing games, fishing, riding motorcycles and helping people. Robert was known to be a very caring person who had a great sense of humor and was a wonderful husband, father and son. He is survived by his wife of 19 years; Mitzi Greenwood, 2 sons; Justin Greenwood and Dakoda Alexander Greenwood both of Vidor, mother; Martha Terry and her husband Robert of Horatio, AR. Robert is also survived by 3 brothers; David Greenwood, Jason Greenwood, and Bendigo Greenwood, and 1 sister; Jessica Easlan. He was preceded in death by his father; Carl Greenwood and grandmother; Dorothy Griffin. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor.

Jerome Eugene Jasper, 57, of Vidor, TX died Sunday, September 22nd, 2019 at home surrounded by his family. A native of Houston, TX he was a longtime resident of Vidor. Jerome enjoyed the outdoors, prospecting, knapping indian arrowheads, playing the drums and was a musician in various local bands. A private memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Jerome is survived by 2 brothers; Moroni Jasper and his wife Theresa of Orange, TX and Raymond Jasper and his wife Rosa of Vidor, 2 sisters; Marcia Hatch and Glenda Cook both of Vidor. He was preceded in death by his parents; Raymond Eugene and Annie Marie Jasper. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor.

Kermit Jarreau

Kermit Jarreau, 62, of Vidor, Texas, passed away on September 28, 2019, at his home in Vidor.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, October 3, 2019, at Dorman Cemetery on Tulane Road in Orange, Texas.

Born in Beaumont, Texas, on August 13, 1957, he was the son of Joseph Harrison Jarreau and Frankie (Fowler) Jarreau. Kermit worked as a heavy equipment operator and foreman for Soloco/Newpark for many years before retiring.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Jarreau; and his sister, Cynthia Jarreau.
