Ethan W. Woods, 22 of Lumberton, TX died Monday, December 9th, 2019 in Lumberton. A native of Nederland, TX, he was a lifelong resident of Vidor before moving to Lumberton 1 years ago. Ethan love muddying in any kind of 4x4. Ethan was a character and enjoyed fishing. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, December 13, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Ethan is survived by his parents Wayne and Kimberly Woods of Kirbyville, TX, sister Catherine Power of Cushion, OK, Taylor Jimenez of Breckenridge, TX, Nicole Ramsey of Lubbock, TX, grandparents Orbie Wayne Woods Sr. of Vidor, TX, Joe Stegall of Vidor, TX and Georgie Brooks of Stark, FL, numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces.

Tommy G. Jones, 72, of Vidor, TX died November 28th, 2019, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. A native of Jasper, he was a longtime resident of Vidor and worked in contruction as a carpenter for 30 years. Tommy was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. A memorial service was held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 2:00p.m. at the home of his sister Caroly Mancil in Jasper. Tommy is survived by 1 daughter; Ronnie Riley of Magnolia, TX, 2 sons; Cecil Jones and Robby Jones of Vidor, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. He is also survived by 4 brothers; Charles Jones, Billy Jones, Jerry Jones and Ike Jones, and 2 sisters; Carolyn Mancil and Janet Martz.

Vera Irene Broussard-Brown, 97, of Vidor, TX died Tuesday, December 3rd, 2019 at home surrounded by her family. A native of High Island, TX she was a longtime resident of Vidor and a member of First United Methodist Church of Vidor. Vera enjoyed reading books and Facebook, sewing and painting. She also loved going on trail rides with her family. Visitation was Thursday, December 5, 2019, 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services were Friday, December 6, 2019 at 2:00p.m. followed by interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Vera is survived by 1 daughter; Carolyn Marie Brown-Bair of Vidor, 1 son; Clinton Joel Brown of Vidor, 5 grandchildren; Lori Lawhon and her husband Duane, Debbie Bair-Watkins and her husband Jeff, Todd Brown and his wife Heather, Tiffany Bell and her husband Daryl and Ty Brown.

Edna Knapp, 98, of Vidor, TX died Tuesday, December 3rd, 2019 at Oakwood Manor Nursing Home. A native of Annacoco, LA she was a longtime resident of Vidor and a faithful member of the Church of Christ. Edna enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting and playing 42 but she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Visitation was held Friday, December 6, 2019 beginning at 6:00p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 10:00a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home followed by interment at Williamson Cemetery. Edna is survived by 3 daughters; Norma Morphis and her husband Harold of Vidor, Marsha Kessell of Vidor, and Susan Porter and her husband Douglas of Vidor, 1 son; Bo Knapp of Beaumont. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, 1 sister; Ivon Nelson and 1 brother; Cecil Cain. Edna was preceded in death by her husband; F.P.

BETTY ANNA “DUSTI” MACKAN GIFFIN CHU

Betty Anna “Dusti” Mackan Giffin Chu, 81, of China, died Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at Christus Hospital - St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. She was born on June 27, 1938, to Minnie Ruth Laidacker Mackan and Richard Blake Mackan, Sr., in Beaumont.

Dusti was a firstclass business woman. She received a degree in journalism from Southwestern University in Georgetown. She owned and operated Dusty’s Feed and Garden Center in Vidor for over 30 years and was the proud owner of Bar 20 Bar Ranch, formerly Riceland Farms, founded in 1936 by her father. Dusti was a model, former President of the Vidor Chamber of Commerce, and an AQHA Barrel Racing Champion as well as All-Around Senior Reining Champion with her horse named Hound.

If you knew Dusti, you knew her love of animals. She never turned away a stray or animal in need of help. “Blessed is the one who takes care of God’s creatures whom they were given charge of.” St. Francis of Assisi

Lloyd H. Hemmingway, 75 of Vidor died Tuesday, November 26th, 2019 at his residence. A native of Mojave, CA, he was a longtime resident of Vidor. Lloyd was a member of Pecan Acres Baptist Church in Vidor and enjoyed fishing and target shooting. He was a member of the NRA. Lloyd served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years and served two tours in the Vietnam Conflict. Visitation was at 6:00 pm Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 46 years Brenda Hemmingway of Vidor, TX, sons Sean Paul Hemmingway, Kenneth Dale Hemmingway and Kevin Lloyd Hemmingway, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

PAULA PRYNE

Paula Maude (Monroe) Pryne, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2019. She was born June 25, 1932 in Shreveport, LA to Webb P. Monroe and Elinor (Mayo) Monroe. She was a long-time resident of Vidor, Texas and member of First Baptist Church of Vidor. She lived the last three years in Galloway, New Jersey. She married Ralph “Buck” Pryne on May 28, 1960. Paula became an AVON Sales Representative on September 7, 1967. She sold AVON for over 50 years and earned many achievements, including Lifetime President’s Club status. She could make a customer out of anyone and was known for her smile, outgoing personality, and ability to make friends everywhere she went. Her greatest happiness was found in her family. Her greatgrandchildren or “her babies” as she fondly referred to them, were a constant source of joy.

JOHN CLARK

John Micheal Clark died Sunday December 1st of 2019. He was born on November 21st 1957 as the 5th out of 6 children of Joseph and Arlene Clark. He was a lifelong resident of Southeast Texas. He raised and supported a family with his over 40yrs of employment in the petrochemical industry. He is survived by his daughter/ son Kristyn ( Rick) Blundell, daughter/ son Katie(Angel) Perez, Grandchildren John Mason Blundell, Clark Maverick Perez, Ashley Blundell, Devon Blundell, Daisy Perez, and Madison Perez. He was always very family oriented, but he truly shined in the role of Pop Pop. He is also survived by his brothers Eddie Bill and Joseph Clark, sisters Sarah Dietz and Barbara Cryer. He was proceeded in death by his father, beloved mother, his sister Sheila Gibson, and grandson Trevor Blundell.

Bill Watkins, 95 of Vidor died Saturday, November 30th, 2019 in Friendswood, TX. A native of Roganville, TX, he was a longtime Vidor resident. Bill retired as a PBX repairman with AT&T after 42 years. He served his country during WWII in the Merchant Marines. Bill was a family man and enjoyed fishing and gardening. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, December 6, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Bill was preceded in death by his wife Jewel Watkins and son James Michael Watkins. He is survived by his children Bill Watkins and his wife Shirley of Vidor, TX, Kieth Watkins and his wife Renee of Vidor, TX, Laurie Killam and her husband Ronald of Friendswood, TX, 13 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.

A native of Wolf Den, TX she was a longtime resident of Vidor who enjoyed reading, gardening, working crossword puzzles, cooking and going to garage sales but she especially loved keeping her grandchildren. Visitation was Monday, November 25, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services were Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home with interment to follow at King Cemetery in Hartburg, TX.
