Steven Frank Kirkland

Steven Kirkland, 73 of Vidor died Thursday, August 9, 2018. He was a native and lifelong resident of Vidor. He was a pipe fitter for Temple Eastex Paper Mill in Evadale for 31 years. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 13, 2018 at Turning Point Church in Vidor with burial following at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. He is survived by his wife, Lou Kirkland of Vidor; sons, Clint Kirkland of Mauriceville, and Darin Kirkland of Vidor; brother-in-law Ernest Wilson of Evadale; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.

Linda Wheat- DeLatte

Linda Wheat-DeLatte, 49, of Lake Charles, LA died Saturday, August 11th, 2018 in Lafayette, LA. A native of Beaumont, TX she was a current resident of Lake Charles and a former longtime resident of Vidor, TX. Linda worked for many years in the construction field and enjoyed fishing. She had a passion for cooking, especially her crawfish casserole. She also loved being around her family and friends. A memorial visitation will be Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor with her memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Linda is survived by her loving husband; Doug DeLatte of Baton Rouge, LA, 1 daughter; Katie Wheat of Mauriceville, TX, 1 son; Kyle Mills of Orange, TX, and 3 grandchildren; Ethan, Evelyn, and Charlotte. She is also survived by her father; Jimmy Jay Wheat and wife Flo of Wappingers Falls, NY, 1 sister; Beth Marie Bordwell and husband Tom of Vidor, 1 brother; Scooter Wheat, and her aunt and uncle; Nancy and Al Standsbury.

Morris Gary “MG” Jacks Jr.

Morris Gary “MG” Jacks Jr., 63, of Vidor, TX died Wednesday, August 1st, 2018 at home. A native of Beaumont, TX he was a longtime resident of Vidor who worked for many years as a machinist and was also an inventor. MG also served in the U.S. Navy Air during the Viet Nam war. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, making gears and reading his Bible. Visitation will be Saturday, August 4, 2018 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Sunday, August 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home with interment to follow at Williamson Cemetery. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Marilyn Jacks of Vidor, 1 daughter; Madeline Kelley and her husband Matt of Vidor, 2 sons; Morris Jacks III “Fellar” and his girlfriend Tonya Collier of Vidor and Micah Jacks and his wife Breanna also of Vidor, 6 grand children; Mandalyn, Macelyn, Makailyn, Marverick, Thomas, and Maddison.

Rev William “Bill” Carl Quinn

Bill Quinn, 89 of Vidor died Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. A native of Beaumont, he was a longtime resident of Vidor. Bill served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a member of the Asiatic - Pacific Fleet. He was a longtime employee of Mobil Oil, Mobil Chemical and Aramco. Bill served as pastor at various Southern Baptist churches in Southeast Texas for over 60 years. He was Pastor Emeritus of Maplecrest Baptist Church, Vidor. He was proud of his service to the community of Vidor, including his years of service as Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop #156 , Little League Baseball coach and umpire, Special Deputy and board member of Main Street Ministries. Visitation began at 6:00 pm Monday, August 13, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services were held at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home with burial following at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor.

Price “Toby” Day, Jr.

Price “Toby” Day, Jr., 82, of Beaumont, TX died Thursday, August 2nd, 2018 at The Clairmont Beaumont. A native of Beaumont he was a longtime resident of Vidor. Price enjoyed listening to music and singing, water skiing, boating and spending time with his family. He loved his 2 dogs; Prissy and Chico. Visitation will be Monday, August 6, 2018 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Restlawn Memorial Park. Price is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Glenda Day, 1 son; Wesley Day of Beaumont, 1 daughter; Stacy Barnes and her husband Todd of Beaumont, 1 granddaughter; Ashlyn Barnes, 1 sister; Sandra Wiley, and 1 brother-in-law; Wayne Crawford and his wife Pat of Vidor. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Beatrice Crawford of Vidor and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Alan Melvin

Alan Melvin, 65, of Vidor, TX died Thursday, August 2nd, 2018 at Oakwood Manor Nursing home. A native of of Freeport, TX he was a longtime resident of Vidor. Alan retired from the City of Vidor after 22 years as a Maintenance Supervisor. He enjoyed fishing, watching western movies and going to the lake. He also enjoyed attending dog shows and raising and showing his champion German Shepherds. Visitation was Sunday, August 5, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services were held Monday, August 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor with interment following at Restlawn Memorial Park.

R J Ladner

RJ Ladner, 71, of Buna, TX, passed away on Thursday, August 2nd, 2018. Rudy was born on September 25th, 1946 in Bay St. Louis, MS, to His parents Mrylin J. Mauffray and Ona Mae Mauffray who have both preceded him in death. RJ arrived in Buna, Tx 26 years ago by way of Long Beach, Mississippi. He was an avid fisher, hunter, gardener. RJ was a,” good ol’ corn fed country boy who had zero filter.” He never met a stranger and if He did, He would happily give them the shirt off his back. Every job needs a supervisor and RJ was keen on self-appointing himself for that position. One of his most enjoyable hobbies was race cars, having past experience working on them and racing them fueled his love for them. RJ had a down to earth nature and was an all-around good guy. If you knew RJ, it was apparent that he was always ready to cut up and if you were spending any time with Him, you should always be ready to eat whether you want to or not.

Dora “Lynn” Johnson

Dora “Lynn” Johnson, 60 of Newton, Texas, passed away July 26th at her residence. She was born in Beaumont, Texas to the late Lloyd and Norma Hyatt. Lynn loved her many animals. Her beloved pet “Mimi” died with her. Cremation arrangements are pending. There will be a celebration of her life, August 11, 2018, Saturday, from 11-1 at Central Baptist Church, 1100 Old Hwy 90 E, Vidor, Texas. Lynn was preceded in death by her mother, Norma Kole of Vidor, Lloyd Hyatt of Corpus Christi, TX and her grandmother Freida Choate of Vidor. Lynn is survived by her sons Willie Linder of Port Neches, Greg Dobslaw of Montana and a daughter Angie Karas of Wisconsin and by her sister Cathy Humberson and brother Bobby Hyatt and her loving friend Mike Linder. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews and many friends. God bless Lynn and all her family.
