Flora Idel Sasser, 83, of Orange, TX died Saturday, February 1st, 2020 at her residence. A native and longtime resident of Vidor she was a Class of 1955 Vidor High School graduate. She enjoyed reading, cooking and spending time with her family and friends. Flora is survived by 1 sister; Barbara Guidry of Mineola, TX, 1 grandson; Jonathan Glass of Houston, TX along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Flora was preceded in death by 1 daughter; Deborah Glass, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor.

Henry Eldon Pipps, 84, of Beaumont, TX died Friday, January 31st, 2020 at Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas. A native of Zwolle, LA he was a U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran. He enjoyed dancing, making Native American regalia including moccasins and necklaces. He also enjoyed listening to Native American music. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 5, 2020 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 6, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Henry is survived by 2 daughters; Melinda K. Pipps of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Cassandra Rose Pipps-Cherry and her husband Rodney of Honey Island, TX, 3 sons; Henry Eldon Pipps II of Orange, TX, Ivan Wesley Pipps and his wife Kelly of Queen Creek, AZ and David Brian Pipps and his wife Alverna of Lumberton, TX along with 11 grandchildren. Henry was preceded in death by his parents; Frank James and Louise Pipps and 6 brothers.

DOUGLAS O. THORNHILL

Douglas O. Thornhill, Jr, 77, of Vidor, TX died Saturday, February 1st, 2020. A native of Beaumont he was a longtime resident of Vidor. Douglas loved being outdoors, working in his garden and sitting on his porch but he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 4, 2020 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home with interment to follow at Williamson Cemetery. Douglas is survived by his loving wife of 57 years; Martha Thornhill, 3 daughters; Cristal Burt of Groves, TX, Carol Thornhill of Vidor, and Lisa Comeaux and her husband Curtis of Vidor, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. He is also survived by 2 sisters; Martha Thomas and Anna Thornhill both of Vidor and 1 brother; Thomas Norris of Vinton, LA. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents; Douglas Thornhill Sr.

Gabrella Smith, 95, of Vidor, TX died Saturday, February 1st, 2020 Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. A native of Oak Vale, MS she was a longtime resident of Vidor and longtime member of Northwest Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, doing yardwork and working Word Search puzzles but she especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 5, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor with her funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Gabrella is survived by 2 daughters; Jo Ann Burks of Hartburg, TX and Marsha Smith of Vidor, 2 sons; Kendall Smith of Vidor and Michael Smith of Nacogdoches, TX, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Jason T. Dupree, 50 of Vidor died Sunday, January 26th, 2020 at his residence. A native of San Diego, CA, he was a longtime resident of Vidor. Jason was a member of Maplecrest Baptist Church in Vidor and retired from the US Coast Guard after 23 years of service to his country. He was currently working for Magellan Midstream Partners for the past 6 years. Jason was also a member of the Patriot Guard Group. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Friday, January 31, 2020 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor with cremation to follow. Jason is survived by his wife of 25 years Angie Dupree, daughters Sarah and Kay Dupree, mother Sharon Simmons all of Vidor, TX, father Wayne T. Dupree of Burnsville, NC, and sister Robyn Gilmore of La Mesa, CA. He was preceded in death by his step father J.T. Simmons.

John Sterling Hayden, 63, of Vidor, TX died Friday, January 3rd, 2020 at his residence. A native of Cleveland, TX he was a longtime resident of Vidor and served his country in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed going fishing and loved his family. John is survived by his former wife; Julie Hayden, 1 stepson; John Lang, 1 stepdaughter; Joan Lang, sister; Wendell Atkins of Vidor, brothers; Milton Hayden of Many, LA and Vincent Hayden of Galveston, TX along with numerous nieces and nephews. A private interment will take place at Houston National Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor.

Walter “Tony” Finch, 82 of Vidor, TX died Monday, January 20th, 2020 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. A native of Brooklyn, NY he was a longtime resident of Vidor and worked as a Longshoreman at the Port of Beaumont for 25 years. Tony enjoyed working in his yard, making handcrafted canes and hanging out at the Waffle House with his friends. Tony was an entertainer with the Charlie Pruitt Show in Beaumont. He loved watching TV and sports and was known for making people laugh. Visitation will be Thursday, January 23, 2020 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Friday, January 24, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.

A native of Pontiac, MI Jerry was a recent resident of Vidor and worked as a construction worker most of his life and enjoyed going fishing. He is survived by his mother; Marie Catherine Bowen, 2 sisters; Donna Wood and Karen Walton, 2 brothers; Boe Bowen and Mike Bowen along with numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor.

Daryl D. Desormeaux 60, of Vidor died Wednesday, January 8th, 2020 at his residence. A native of Beaumont, TX, he was a longtime resident of Vidor. Daryl was a process operator for Huntsman in Conroe for 12 years. He also worked for Northstar Steel in Vidor for a long time. He enjoyed playing golf and being in fantasy football leagues. Daryl also enjoyed fantasy baseball. Visitation was held from 12:00 - 2:00 pm and funeral services started at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor followed by burial at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Daryl was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Mary Desormeaux, brother Darrin Desormeaux and grandson Gabriel Meineke. He is survived by his daughters December Loden and her husband James “JD” of Vidor, TX, Dawn Meineke and her husband Eric of Vidor, TX, sister Denise Hollier of Groves, TX, 5 grandchildren Donovan Bloomer, Destiny Bergeron, Gwendelynne Bloomer, Grace Bergeron, Isabella Loden.

Jim L. Gill, 76, of Crosby, TX died Monday, January 13th, 2020 in Galveston. A native of Kurthwood, LA he was a former resident of Vidor and a graduate of Vidor High School Class of 1961. Jim enjoyed reading, gardening and making floral arrangements but he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, January 16, 2020 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Friday, January 17, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years; Velva Gill, 1 daughter; Mary Elizabeth Gill and her husband Mike Garrie of Baytown, TX, 2 sons; Zane Allen Gill and his wife Misti of Humble, TX and Jeffrey David Gill and his wife Cai Dan, 5 grandchildren; Reece, Zachary, Kassia, Elizabeth, and Astrid, and 2 sisters; Ivy Jones and Alley Vee Welch. Jim was preceded in death by 2 brothers; J.D. Gill and L.C.
