Charlie Pruitt

Charlie Pruitt

Charlie Pruitt was born to a family of sharecroppers in White County, Arkansas on March 3, 1932. He hitchhiked to Beaumont, Texas after finishing high school. He served in Korea, took care of his mother Annie, raised a family, and worked 38 years at the Mobile and DuPont refineries. His passion was hosting the Charlie Pruitt Country Music Show, which ran for 25 years at the Jefferson Theater. The Show provided a family-friendly venue for aspiring young musicians to perform, and it greatly contributed to the promotion of country music in Southeast Texas. Charlie is survived by his daughter Charla Smallwood; his son Kyle Pruitt; his grandchildren James Barnhart, Deon Nelson, and Hannah Etter; and his greatgrandchildren Hank and Hazel Etter. He was preceded in death by his daughter Paula McKinley. He was married to Elizabeth Donan Youngblood Pruitt for 35 years.

FRANK CLIFF CARTER SR.

Frank “Cliff” Carter Sr., 72, of Vidor, TX died Monday, December 16th, 2019 Focused Care Nursing Home in Orange. A native of Beaumont he served his country in the U.S. Army. Frank worked as a supervisor for Southwestern Bell and was the owner of Carter Racing Enterprises. After retiring he was the owner of Jaco Sales and Rental and enjoyed working on engines, race cars and heavy equipment but he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Visitation will be Friday, December 20, 2019 at Pecan Acres Baptist Church from 9:00a.m to 11:00a.m. with funeral services at 11:00a.m. Interment will follow at Stephenson Cemetery. Frank is survived by his wife of 53 years; Jane Carter, 1 daughter; Debra Garlington of Vidor, 1 son; Frank Clifton Carter Jr of Lumberton, 3 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters, and 2 brothers.

MINERVA LUNA

Funeral services for Minerva Luna, age 54 of Vidor, Texas and formerly of Seminole, Texas were held Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Seminole with Pastor Joe Stewart officiating. Burial followed at Gaines County Cemetery. All services were under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.

Ethan W. Woods, 22 of Lumberton, TX died Monday, December 9th, 2019 in Lumberton. A native of Nederland, TX, he was a lifelong resident of Vidor before moving to Lumberton 1 years ago. Ethan love muddying in any kind of 4x4. Ethan was a character and enjoyed fishing. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm Friday, December 13, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home followed by burial at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Ethan is survived by his parents Wayne and Kimberly Woods of Kirbyville, TX, sister Catherine Power of Cushion, OK, Taylor of Breckenridge, TX, Nicole Ramsey of Lubbock, TX, grandparents Orbie Wayne Woods Sr. of Vidor, TX, Joe Stegall of Vidor, TX and Georgie Brooks of Stark, FL, numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

Frances Jane DeCulus, 79, of Vidor, TX died Saturday, December 7th, 2019 at her residence in Beaumont. A native of Davis Hills, TX she was a longtime resident of Vidor who enjoyed going to garage sales with her grandchildren, cooking, playing Yatzee, dominoes and going perch fishing. Visitation will be Friday, December 13, 2019 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Graveside services and interment will be Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Restlawn Memorial Park. Frances is survived by 1 daughter; Charlotte Rodriguez of Beaumont, 1 son; Jimmy Doyle Rushing of Vidor, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 sisters; Jessie, Cindy, and Buster, 1 brother; Bubba Burrell, numerous nieces, nephews and stepfamily.

Billy A. Drake, 81 of Mauriceville, TX died Monday, December 9th, 2019 at his residence. A native of Gist, TX, he was a longtime resident of Mauriceville, TX. Billy served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was a carpenter. Billy enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Local Union #196. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow at Eaves Cemetery in Gist, TX. Billy is survived by his wife of 24 years Linda Devillier of Mauriceville, TX, sons William A. Drake Jr. of Fannett, TX, Robert Drake of Woodville, TX and Tom Drake of Buna, TX, stepson Christopher Zimmerman of Mauriceville, TX, stepdaughter Tracey Germany of Mauriceville, TX, brother Hilton Carroll Drake of Ft. Worth, TX, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Tommy G. Jones, 72, of Vidor, TX died November 28th, 2019, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. A native of Jasper, he was a longtime resident of Vidor and worked in contruction as a carpenter for 30 years. Tommy was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. A memorial service was held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 2:00p.m. at the home of his sister Caroly Mancil in Jasper. Tommy is survived by 1 daughter; Ronnie Riley of Magnolia, TX, 2 sons; Cecil Jones and Robby Jones of Vidor, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. He is also survived by 4 brothers; Charles Jones, Billy Jones, Jerry Jones and Ike Jones, and 2 sisters; Carolyn Mancil and Janet Martz.

Vera Irene Broussard-Brown, 97, of Vidor, TX died Tuesday, December 3rd, 2019 at home surrounded by her family. A native of High Island, TX she was a longtime resident of Vidor and a member of First United Methodist Church of Vidor. Vera enjoyed reading books and Facebook, sewing and painting. She also loved going on trail rides with her family. Visitation was Thursday, December 5, 2019, 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services were Friday, December 6, 2019 at 2:00p.m. followed by interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Vera is survived by 1 daughter; Carolyn Marie Brown-Bair of Vidor, 1 son; Clinton Joel Brown of Vidor, 5 grandchildren; Lori Lawhon and her husband Duane, Debbie Bair-Watkins and her husband Jeff, Todd Brown and his wife Heather, Tiffany Bell and her husband Daryl and Ty Brown.

Edna Knapp, 98, of Vidor, TX died Tuesday, December 3rd, 2019 at Oakwood Manor Nursing Home. A native of Annacoco, LA she was a longtime resident of Vidor and a faithful member of the Church of Christ. Edna enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting and playing 42 but she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Visitation was held Friday, December 6, 2019 beginning at 6:00p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 10:00a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home followed by interment at Williamson Cemetery. Edna is survived by 3 daughters; Norma Morphis and her husband Harold of Vidor, Marsha Kessell of Vidor, and Susan Porter and her husband Douglas of Vidor, 1 son; Bo Knapp of Beaumont. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, 1 sister; Ivon Nelson and 1 brother; Cecil Cain. Edna was preceded in death by her husband; F.P.
