Reverend Charles Braneff Sr.

Reverend Charles Braneff, Sr., 79, of DeQuincy, Louisiana went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Christus St. Patricks Hospital in Lake Charles. He was born in Port Arthur, Texas on March 6, 1936 to Ira and Gracie Colman Braneff. Brother Braneff was raised in Vidor and recieved the Holy Ghost at Sister Mildred DeVille’s church at the age of 21. He started evangelizing in 1957 and in 1963 he began his first pastorate in Robeline, Louisiana. He  pastored his second church in Gist, Texas for six and a half years. After leaving Gist, he evangelized for the next four years before taking his third church in Singer, Louisiana. n 1973 he resigned his church and moved to DeQuincy. Feeling led of God to start a church in DeQuincy, he rented a building and started holding services on September 25, 1977. They stayed there for the next ten years. They then moved to the west side of town, purchased land and built a church that would seat 550 people.

Mary Ruth Holmes, 90, of Pilot Point, passed away Monday, April 13, 2015 at her home. She was born April 9, 1925 in Brownfield, TX to Jack and Lydia (Hernandez) Howard. She was married to Hollis Jack Holmes. Mary was formerly of Beaumont, TX and has lived in Pilot Point, TX for 15 years.

Dan Gentry

Dan Gentry a resident of Lone Star, Texas passed away in Lone Star on Friday,  pril 10, 2015 at the age of 47. He was born in Beaumont, Texas on May 18, 1967 to Allen M. and Patricia A. (Boutte) Grant. Dan was of the Baptist Faith. He loved reading his bible, watching TV and traveling with his mother. But he especially loved listening to his music. Mr. Gentry is survived by his parents, Allen Gentry of Vidor, Texas and Patricia Grant and husband Johnny of Dangerfield, Texas; step-sister, Nickie Sutton and  husband Tommy of Yulee, Florida; stepbrother, Dale Grant of Dangerfield, Texas. Mr. Gentry was preceded in death by his grandparents. A chapel service will be held in honor of his  memory at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Chapel in Durant, Oklahoma  with Pastor Jesse West officiating. Interment will follow at RosehillCemetery in Calera, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be  Johnny Grant, Dale Grant, Phillip Andrus, George Andrus, T.H.

James Willie Adams

 James W. Adams, 92 of Vidor, TX. passed from this life April 9th at his residence. He was born September 7, 1922 to Arthur and Miram Adams in the Friendship Community. J.W. was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson and 6 siblings. He is survived by his wife Lucille of 73 years, daughters Jettie Young (Monty), Sharron Aycock and son Shannon (Dell) all of Vidor, sister Margaret Andrews of Center, TX. and brother Alton of Normangee, TX., 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was a Deacon in Pine Forest Baptist Church where he faithfully served God.
