Edythe Turney, 95, of Beaumont, passed away Monday, February 9, 2015, at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. Edythe was born in McDade, Texas, on November 28, 1919. She lived in Vidor for thirty-six years, where she raised her children. She spent the last twenty-four years of her retirement in Beaumont. Being an avid reader, working crossword puzzles, and sewing were some of her favorite pastimes. But cooking for large family gatherings was her most enjoyment. Survivors include her two daughters, Victoria Thomas and her husband, Larry, of Beaumont and Rebecca Huebner and her husband, Jim, of Spicewood; grandchildren, Russell Huebner and his wife, Johnell, of Kyle; Kelly Huebner Goldfarb and her husband, Jared, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Chad Thomas of Beaumont; Amanda Thomas of Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain; and Christina Thomas of Houston; and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Turney; and her sister, Louise Alcede. A gathering of Mrs.

Preston Paul Callahan Jr.

Preston Paul Callahan Jr., 90, passed away February 8th 2015. He was born in McKinney, Texas October 7th 1924 to Preston Paul Callahan Sr. and Ruby Smith. He served in the Navy Seebees in the 1940’s. Soon after his release from the service he made his home in the Vidor/ Beaumont area. As a Building Contractor, he built many beautiful homes and several commercial buildings in the area. He was a kind and generous man who treated everyone as if they were the most important person in the world. Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen Lawhon; and his only son, Loy Paul Callahan; and his only daughter, Joy Elaine Callahan Hanson. He leavesbehind 9 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on North 105 in Vidor.

Monroe P. Findley

Monroe P. Findley, 93, passed away at Harbor Hospice February 5, 2015. A service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 p.m.in the chapel of Claybar Funeral Home Beaumont Monday, February 9, 2015 with a gathering of family and friends planned for Sunday from 2- 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Findley was born August 2, 1921 in Port Neches, TX to Monroe L. and Hulda Findley. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy LeBlanc and her husband, Nelson; son, Charlie Findley and his wife, Deana; grandchildren, Alan Findley and his wife. Talitha, and Dexter LeBlanc and his fiancé, Rebecca Brown; great-granddaughter, Kylee Findley; brother, Johnnie Findley and sisters, Evelyn Conda and Eleanor Findley. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Johnnie Findley.

Jackie Martin-Will passed away February 6, 2015 at the age of 59. She lived in Vidor, TX since 2005. She is the daughter of Carroll Mach of Vidor and Norman and Yvonne Kious of McAlester, OK. She is survived by her husband Johnny Will; 2 sisters, Linda Gallier and Rachel Mach; 2 brothers, Monte Kious and Robbie Kious, Jr.. She has 2 children, Jennifer Dansforth and Mark Martin of Colorado. She also has 6 grandchildren. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Memorial service will be held at First Pentecostal Church, 185 Camp St., Vidor on Friday, February 13 at 6:00pm. Doors open at 5pm.

B. E. Wharton

B. E. Wharton, 81, Attorney in Vidor, Texas for 40 years, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at his home in Beaumont. He was born September 17, 1933 in Sedalia, Missouri to Sterling and Lois Wharton. The family moved to Devers when he was 16 years of age. In 1951, he headed to the University of Texas at Austin and then went on to graduate from the University of Texas School of Law in 1957. A man of honesty, integrity, and compassion, he was known for generously donating his professional time to individuals and organizations. He received the Paul Harris Fellow Recognition from the Rotary Club during his years of service. The Vidor Chamber of Commerce described him as having a lasting impact on Vidor and Orange County and a champion for the elderly and less fortunate. B.E. is survived by his wife of 52 years, Billie Wharton of Beaumont, his son Timothy Wharton of Georgetown and a daughter, Kara Wharton, of Beaumont.

HELLEN M. RUTLEDGE MITCHELL

Hellen M. Granny Rutledge Mitchell, 71, of Dayton, died Monday, February 9, 2015, at the St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston. She was a native of Beaumont, a former resident of Channelview, and has resided in Dayton for the past 33 years. She was a retired associate for Wal-Mart in Liberty. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 12, 2015, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton. She is survived by her husband, Leland C. Mitchell, Jr. of Dayton, sons: Doug Mitchell of Dayton, Robert Mitchell of Kingwood, and Darrel Mitchell of Vidor, daughter: Lurleen Marie Mitchell Eddleman of Dayton, siblings: Alene Gallier, Snow Reed, Dorothy Evans, Doris Hickman, Joe Rutledge, and Leroy Rutledge all of Beaumont, and 12 grandchildren.
