Joseph Louis Hollier

Joseph Louis Hollier, 55, of Vidor, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at his home. Memorial services were held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Bible Baptist Church in Vidor. He was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Alleman and his father, Joseph Hollier. He is survived by his wife, Tina Hollier; daughter, Tracy Reynolds and fiancé, Bobby Strong of Vidor; son, Bobby Reynolds and wife, Dawn of Orange; grandchildren, Nathaniel Mooney, Daniel Reynolds, Lane Wright, and Sydney Wright. He is also survived by his brother, Donald Alleman of Rayne, LA; sister, Patricia Comeaux of Rayne, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family.

Wilhelmina Wylie

Wilhelmina Wylie, 98, of Vidor died Sunday, February 15th, 2015 at her residence. A native of Concordia Parish, LA, she was a longtime resident of Vidor. Wilhelmina was a member of First Christian Church in Vidor, First Church of God in Beaumont, Trinity United Methodist Church in Beaumont. She was a past worthy matron and 50+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #914 in Vidor, former teacher of the Friendship class at Trinity United Methodist Church and organized domino games at Vidor community center for years. Funeral services were officiated by Pastor Vicki Peters of Trinity United Methodist Church. Additional speakers were Stewart Cathey of Monroe, La and Paullette Burrhus of Beaumont, TX. Services were held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial following at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation began at 6:00 pm Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home.

Jo Ann Prejean

Jo Ann Prejean, 60, of Vidor died Saturday, February 28th, 2015 at College Street Health Care Center in Beaumont. She was a native and lifelong resident of Vidor. Jo Ann was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Vidor and was a special gift from the Lord, she was born with special needs in 1954. Her family was told that her life expectancy would be brief; however, she lived 60 years, and blessed many with her loving and sweet life. She was a joy to visit with and brought smiles and laughter to all those who knew her. A funeral liturgy outside mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm and a rosary at 7:00 pm Monday, March 2, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home.

Ben D. Vaughn, Sr.

Ben D. Vaughn, Sr., age 92, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 in Beaumont, TX. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday 4, 2015 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Mr. Vaughn was born in Beaumont, Texas on September 10, 1922 to the late Frank and Ida Long Vaughn. He was a retired welder with the Local 195 Pipefitter’s Union after 60 years of service. He was a lifelong resident of Vidor and a member of the Rose City Baptist Church. He enjoyed shrimping and was an avid gardener, raising beautiful camellias. Ben loved his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Edith Odeal Vaughn, a son Ben D. Vaughn, Jr., grandson Steven Vaughn, brothers; Pat and Ray Vaughn and a sister Virginia Smith. Survivors include son, Terry Vaughn and his wife Evelyn of Vidor, TX and a daughter Cheryl Obrien and her husband Terry of Vidor, TX.

Lloyd “Butch” Charles Sellers Jr

Butch Sellers, 71, of Vidor died December 18, 2014 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. A native of Beaumont, he was a longtime resident of Vidor. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2015 at Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont. He is survived by his son Charles Sellers, daughters Chandra Cothern and Heather Bullard all of Vidor, sisters Brenda Moore of Orange, and Linda Blaylock of Kountze, and six granddaughters. In lieu of flowers monetary donations will be accepted at the cemetery.

Kori Michelle Simon, 22, of Vidor, formerly of Winnie, died Thursday, February 26, 2015. She was a native of Beaumont. Her service was held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Broussard’s, with interment following at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie. Survivors include her parents, Bill and Daneen Simon, of Winnie; brothers, Trey Simon, of Winnie; Joe Simon, of Los Angeles, CA; sisters, Mindy Baum of Magnolia and Lacey Davis, of Anahuac; grandmother, Darlene Pierce, of Vidor. Evalena Laird-Jones, 90, of Vidor, died Friday, February 27, 2015. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial following at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. She is survived by her children, Patricia LeDoux of Vidor, Peggy Smith of Vidor, Evelyn Havard of Kountze, Clara Blankenship of Vidor, and Ethel Jones of Vidor, Julia Thomas of National City, CA, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Thomas Lloyd Cox, 77, a long time resident of Vidor, died Tuesday, February 25th, 2015 at his home. He was a veteran of both the U.S. Navy and Army. A graveside service was held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas He is survived by daughters, Renee Hendersonof Woodville and Hollie Singleton of Nederland, and son, Tommy Cox of Lake Charles, LA, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ida May Durham Knight, 68, of Vidor died Sunday, February 22, 2015 at The Meadows Nursing Home in Orange. A native of Colmesneil, TX, she was a lifelong resident of Vidor. She liked to take pictures, travel, and spending time with her family. Ida was a Vidor High School 1965 graduate and has a bachelors degree in elementary education from Lamar University in Beaumont. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 amWednesday, February 25, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Bethany Cemetery in Colmesneil, Texas at 2:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home. Ida is survived by her husband of 48 years John H. Knight, Jr., son John Benjamin Knight, daughter Karisima Michelle Knight, granddaughter Lauren Ashley Knight, 4 brothers Gerald, William, Allen, and Donnie, 2 sisters Cindy (Mary), and Lori, many nieces and nephews.

Edward “Ed” Jake Stunkard

Ed Stunkard, 74, of Vidor died Friday, February 20, 2015 at his residence. A native of Klondike, Texas, he was a resident of Vidor for the past 9 years. Ed retired from the US Army as an E-7 and served during the Vietnam Conflict where he was awarded 2 Purple Heart Medals and he also retired from the US Postal Service after 40 years. He was a 3 term past commander for the Vidor VFW Post #8246. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm and visitation will begin at 6:00 pm, Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with cremation to follow. Ed is survived by his wife Connie Stephens Stunkard, sons Ronald “Scooter” Edwin Stunkard of Vidor, TX, Edward James Stunkard of Mt.
