Kenneth Ray Marlow

Funeral services for Kenneth Ray Marlow, 54, of Evadale will be 2 PM Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following in Morse Cemetery in Buna. Visitation will be Saturday 5 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Marlow passed away July 29, 2015 at his residence. Kenny was a native of Groves and a long time resident of Evadale. He worked in construction and was an ironworker by trade. Mr. Marlow was preceded in death by his mother Hilda Moss Marlow and sister Donna Sue Foster. Survivors include sons Ricky Marlow of Vidor, James Marlow of Broaddus and Jacob Marlow of Arkansas; daughters Christina Hurlbert of Vidor and Megan Marlow of Arkansas; father Garland Marlow of Lumberton; sister Terri Lynn Reddoch of Vidor. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; two nieces; three nephews; two great nieces and two great nephews. He loved them all very much.

Steven Lee Lawrence

Feb. 27, 1964 - July 8, 2015. Steven Lee Lawrence, 51, of Kountze, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, He was a Stephen Minister and involved with the Emmaus Walk. He enjoyed golfing. He was a graduate of Virginia College in Austin with a pharmaceutical tech certification. He loved animals, especially dogs. He was very smart. He knew volumes of trivia, especially when it came to cars. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He is survived by his daughter, Emily Lawrence of Stafford;  siblings, Larry Minton and wife Carla of Vidor, Carolyn Martin and husband Howard of Stephenville and Glenda Pustka and husband Joe of Katy; fiancée, Patty Dominy of Kountze; numerous nieces and nephews and his dogs, Abby, Bella and Hutch. His family received friends Friday, July 10, 2015 at Grace Church in Lumberton. The funeral service followed at 6pm. at Grace Church in Lumberton and was officiated by Reverend Ray McNames.

Melba Jane Courmier

Melba J. Courmier, 86, of Vidor died Friday, July 31st, 2015 at Oakwood Nursing Home in Vidor. A native of Beaumont, TX, she was a longtime resident of Vidor. Melba attended Eastgate United Pentecostal Church and Faith Tabernacle Church both in Vidor. She was an avid motorcycle rider. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, August 3, 2015 at Faith Tabernacle Church in Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will began at 6:00 pm Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Melba was preceded in death by her husband JM Courmier and her parents Claude and Bessie Block. She is survived by her sons David Lamberth of Easley, SC and Paul Courmier Sr. of Vidor, TX, daughter Donna Courmier of Vidor,  TX, brother Gerald Block of Vidor, TX, 9 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Martha Dell Stringer

Martha Dell Stringer, 63 died Monday, August 3rd, 2015 in Beaumont. A native of Zavalla, TX she was a longtime resident of Vidor since 1974. The things she loved to do the most was babysit her 2 grand daughters and shop on QVC. Martha is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, TommyStringer, 3 sisters, Sue Heff, Dorothy Basham and Ann Cheney, 2 brothers, Benny and Gene Sheffield, grand daughters, KellyGuarnere and Katie Bentsen, along with  numerous nieces and nephews. Martha was preceded in death byher parents, Orion and Vera Sheffield, and son, Brian Stringer. Visitation will be Thursday, August 6, 2015 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be  Friday, August 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home with interment to follow  at Restlawn Memorial Park.

Deborah Dee Hoffpauir

Deborah Dee Hoffpauir, 57, passed away Tuesday, July 14th, in Galveston. She was born February 19, 1958, in Port Arthur,Texas. She grew up and attended school in Vidor, Texas. After she left school, she moved to Houston and worked at various jobs. Deborah moved to Galveston in 2001 after Tropical Storm Allison flooded her home in Houston. She immediately fell in love with the island and the people on it. She decided to move to Galveston permanently and vowed never to leave. She found work on the island, providing home health care to an elderly couple for the last 11 years. Deborah learned to fish, crab, and throw a seine net. She enjoyed teaching her nephew, Duncan, and all his friends how to catch and clean fish. However, she was happiest just walking along the beach in the evenings with her dog, Chula.

Mary Joyce Lewis

Mary J. Lewis, 66, of Vidor died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at her residence. A native of Little Rock, AR, she was a longtime resident of Vidor. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Vidor at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2015. She is survived by her daughter Sunshine Lopez, sons John Lewis and Billy Will, brothers Joe and Eddie Castile, sister Rose Seigrist, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Charles Perry Preble III

Charles Perry Preble III, 55, of Sour Lake, died Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Christus Hospital- St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. A native and lifelong resident of this area, he worked for Home Crafters. Survivors include his daughters, Chanel Hitchcock and Mallorie Struble, both of Lumberton, and Roxie Harris of Vidor; son, Charlie Preble of Sour Lake; six grandchildren; mother, Nancy Preble; sisters, Cindy Preble, Julie Guidry, and Marcy Borel. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2015, at Broussard’s, Beaumont. His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium.

Lisa D. Ramos

Lisa D. Ramos, 51, of Vidor died Monday, July 27th, 2015 at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in Beaumont. A native of Beaumont, she was a lifelong resident of Lumberton before moving to Vidor in 2009. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. A rosary will be held at 1:30 p.m. and a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband Carlos Ramos, son William Ramos and daughter Carlee Ramos all of Vidor, sister Carol Cryer of Lumberton.

Myrtis Elenora Shannon

Myrtis Elenora Shannon, 87, of Beaumont, died Friday, July 24, 2015, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born in El Dorado, Arkansas, on February 14, 1928, to Ira Sawyer Woolley and Alban Edward Woolley, and had been a long time resident of Vidor and Beaumont. Elenora loved spending time with her husband of fiftyseven years, W. D. “Bill” Shannon. Together they raised five children and were loving members of an extended family of siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her love and affection to all of the immediate and extended family gained her the name of “Big Mama”, which was her preferred calling with almost everyone. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, and hosting family and friends. Elenora was a very active supporter of her children’s school activities. She was a people person, very generous and kind hearted, and was a blessing to everyone who met her.

Deborah Dee Hoffpauir
