Ida May Durham Knight

Ida May Durham Knight, 68, of Vidor died Sunday, February 22, 2015 at The Meadows Nursing Home in Orange. A native of Colmesneil, TX, she was a lifelong resident of Vidor. She liked to take pictures, travel, and spending time with her family. Ida was a Vidor High School 1965 graduate and has a bachelors degree in elementary education from Lamar University in Beaumont. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 amWednesday, February 25, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Bethany Cemetery in Colmesneil, Texas at 2:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home. Ida is survived by her husband of 48 years John H. Knight, Jr., son John Benjamin Knight, daughter Karisima Michelle Knight, granddaughter Lauren Ashley Knight, 4 brothers Gerald, William, Allen, and Donnie, 2 sisters Cindy (Mary), and Lori, many nieces and nephews.

Edward “Ed” Jake Stunkard

Ed Stunkard, 74, of Vidor died Friday, February 20, 2015 at his residence. A native of Klondike, Texas, he was a resident of Vidor for the past 9 years. Ed retired from the US Army as an E-7 and served during the Vietnam Conflict where he was awarded 2 Purple Heart Medals and he also retired from the US Postal Service after 40 years. He was a 3 term past commander for the Vidor VFW Post #8246. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm and visitation will begin at 6:00 pm, Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with cremation to follow. Ed is survived by his wife Connie Stephens Stunkard, sons Ronald “Scooter” Edwin Stunkard of Vidor, TX, Edward James Stunkard of Mt.

Mary Linda York Butts

Mary Linda York Butts, 70, of Vidor died peacefully on Friday, February 20th, 2015 at her home. She was born on January 24, 1945 in Beaumont, Texas to Herbert and Hazel York. Linda wore many “hats” though out her years that included participating in the Azalea Garden Club, singing and traveling with the Voices of Victory Gospel Group, teaching, nursing, and nutritional dietitian. She especially loved cooking for her family, fishing and spending time at their family beach cabin. Linda attended SFA University and was a member of Vidor Assembly of God and was a strong believer in God. She was greatly respected by her family and friends and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, NaNa and friend. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 50 years, Thomas “Tommy” E. Butts, Sr.

Wilhelmina Wylie

Wilhelmina Wylie, 98, of Vidor died Sunday, February 15th, 2015 at her residence. A native of Concordia Parish, LA, she was a longtime resident of Vidor. Wilhelmina was a member of First Christian Church in Vidor, First Church of God in Beaumont, Trinity United Methodist Church in Beaumont. She was a past worthy matron and 50+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #914 in Vidor, former teacher of the Friendship class at Trinity United Methodist Church and organized domino games at Vidor community center for years. Funeral services were officiated by Pastor Vicki Peters of Trinity United Methodist Church. Additional speakers were Stewart Cathey of Monroe, La and Paullette Burrhus of Beaumont, TX. Services were held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial following at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation began at 6:00 pm Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home.

JAMES FERGUSON

James C. Ferguson, 79, of Evadale, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at his residence. A native of Camp 11 near Spurger, he lived in Silsbee and Warren many years before moving to Evadale six years ago. He retired from Santa Fe Railroad. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2015 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with interment following in Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Cherry Ann Moss Ferguson of Evadale; sons Kenneth E. Ferguson of Fred and Rusty Moss of Huntsville; daughters Wanda Davis of Woodville and Lana Hoke of Evadale; eight grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Robert Lewis Boyett, 57, of Vidor, passed away Tuesday, February 03, 2015 at his residence. Graveside Service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2015 at McClelland Cemetery in Center, Texas with Bro. Chris Collins officiating. No visitation is planned. He was born June 7, 1957 in Beaumont to Hoye E. and Margie (Nell) Boyett who precede him in death. He lived in San Antonio for many years where he was a Pharmacy Tech. He has lived in Vidor for the past year. He loved helping others and he loved God and his church with all of his heart. VEttress Burns-Adkins

VEttress Burns-Adkins, 86, died Thursday, February 19th, 2015 in Beaumont. She was a long time resident of Vidor who loved to play dominos and bingo, cooking, and going fishing, but especially loved to play with her grandchildren and spend quality time with her family and friends. VEttress is survived by her 2 sons, Benny Adkins and wife Linda of Vidor, Charles Adkins and wife Renee’ of Wildwood, Texas, a daughter, Lynda Adkins of Vidor, 2 sisters, Loretta Crawford and Joyce Williams and a brother, D.D. Burns. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. VEtress is preceded in death by her husband, Bemon Adkins, son, Lloyd Adkins, 2 sisters, Bessie Mae Rash and Rosielee Adkins, and 2 brothers, Andrew Burns and Harold Wayne Burns. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2015 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Services wild be on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.

Henry Don Williams, Sr., 76, of Brookeland, died Saturday, Febru-ary 21, 2015, at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospi-tal. He was a native of Buna, and worked for Temple Inland for forty-two years.A memorial mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb-ruary 25, 2015, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catho-lic Church, Vidor.Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Williams; children, Henry Don Williams, Jr. of Kemah; Toni Colletie of Beau-mont; Jim Watkins of Mauriceville; Sherry Whitman; Patty Craw-ford; and Chris Griffith, all of Vidor; 13 grand-children; four great-grandchildren; brother, Clarence Vaughn Wil-liams of Toledo Bend; and sister, Henrietta Shepherd of Vidor.

He is survived by his sister, Linda Boyett of Vidor, brother, and Ken-neth Boyett of Vidor.

JAMES EDWARD SMITH

James Edward Smith, Jr. died Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at his residence. He was a native of Niles, MI, and an 11 year veteran of the US Army, having served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1969.  Memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb-ruary 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the 1st Pente-costal Church, Vidor. Graveside Military Ser-vice will be held Satur-day, February 28, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.He is survived by wife Sarah Smith of Labelle, brothers: Rudy, Denis and Larry; children: Lisa, Colleen, Charlotte, Jamie Lynn, Wendy, Bryan and Lee. He had 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchil-dren.
