Lisa D. Ramos

Lisa D. Ramos, 51, of Vidor died Monday, July 27th, 2015 at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in Beaumont. A native of Beaumont, she was a lifelong resident of Lumberton before moving to Vidor in 2009. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. A rosary will be held at 1:30 p.m. and a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband Carlos Ramos, son William Ramos and daughter Carlee Ramos all of Vidor, sister Carol Cryer of Lumberton.

Myrtis Elenora Shannon

Myrtis Elenora Shannon, 87, of Beaumont, died Friday, July 24, 2015, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born in El Dorado, Arkansas, on February 14, 1928, to Ira Sawyer Woolley and Alban Edward Woolley, and had been a long time resident of Vidor and Beaumont. Elenora loved spending time with her husband of fiftyseven years, W. D. “Bill” Shannon. Together they raised five children and were loving members of an extended family of siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her love and affection to all of the immediate and extended family gained her the name of “Big Mama”, which was her preferred calling with almost everyone. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, and hosting family and friends. Elenora was a very active supporter of her children’s school activities. She was a people person, very generous and kind hearted, and was a blessing to everyone who met her.

Deborah Dee Hoffpauir

Deborah Dee Hoffpauir, 57, passed away Tuesday, July 14th, in Galveston. She was born February 19, 1958, in Port Arthur,Texas. She grew up and attended school in Vidor, Texas. After she left school, she moved to Houston and worked at various jobs. Deborah moved to Galveston in 2001 after Tropical Storm Allison flooded her home in Houston. She immediately fell in love with the island and the people on it. She decided to move to Galveston permanently and vowed never to leave. She found work on the island, providing home health care to an elderly couple for the last 11 years. Deborah learned to fish, crab, and throw a seine net. She enjoyed teaching her nephew, Duncan, and all his friends how to catch and clean fish. However, she was happiest just walking along the beach in the evenings with her dog, Chula. Deborah is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Pauline Smith, and her sister, Judy Jarrell. They were waiting to welcome her Home.

Chelsea Danielle Rossi

Chelsea Danielle Rossi, 25, of Vidor, went to be with her Lord Friday, July 24, 2015. She was born on December 14, 1989, in Beaumont, to Donna Sue Pender Lagaza and Johnny Rossi. Chelsea was kind, caring, and tender hearted and shared this with her friends and family. Her loving smile brought brightness to all of our lives. Chelsea always maintained a healthy relationship with God and shared her godliness through her kindness and unwavering faith. Chelsea was a college student and licensed phlebotomist. She was employed by Dr. F. Russell Stovall. Chelsea is survived by her mother, Donna Lagaza; father, Johnny Rossi; stepfather, Clarence Ledet; grandmother, Peggy Smith; grandfather, Arthur Pender; stepgrandmother, Margaret Ledet; brother, Chase Laird; and stepbrothers, Armando Ledet and Alfredo Ledet. A gathering of Chelsea’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2015, at First Pentecostal Church Vidor, 185 Camp Street, Vidor.

Barbara Ann McInnis Hardy

Barbara Ann McInnis Hardy, 76, died on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2015 in Beaumont. She was a lifelong resident of Vidor and over the years she was involved in numerous community organizations. She liked to paint, go fishing, doing craft work, and spending time on her computer. Barbara is survived by 5 daughters, Louise Womack and husband Rick, Martha Smith and husband Terry, Deborah Bertrand and husband Ray, Sam Finn and husband Ronnie, and Mary Rogers and husband Donnie all of Vidor. She is also survived by a son, Billy McInnis of Vidor, 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and a sister, Sheila Ingham of Pt. Acres. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben and Nedra Odom, husband, Pete McInnis, a daughter, Prissie Tullis and 2 brothers, Alton and Eugene Odom. Visitation will be Monday, July 27, 2015 beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Claudene Powers

Claudene Powers, 75, a longtime resident of Vidor, died Monday, July 20th, 2015 in Beaumont. She liked to crochet and collect anything and everything that was “Elvis”, but she especially loved to spend time in her garden and working with flowers. Claudene is survived by 2 sons, Jerry Evans of Oregon and Lee Jay Powers of Florida, a daughter, Darlene Powers of Dallas, a sister, Pam Morris of Pt. Neches and 2 brothers, Jerry Nicholson and wife Yvonne of Nederland and Ray Williams and wife Mary of Beaumont, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Claudene was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Powers, 3 daughters, Margie LaFleur, Debra Berryhill, and Janet Villafano, 1 son, Kyle Evans, and a sister, Barbara Martin. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 23, 2015 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Friday, July 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.

Richard Allan “Dickie” Bourg

Richard Allan “Dickie” Bourg, 78, of Brookeland, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015. A native of Beaumont, and a former resident of Vidor, he was a longtime resident of Brookeland. A 1955 Vidor High School graduate, he retired as Captain of the Beaumont Fire Department after 26 years of service. A Celebration of life was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper. He is survived by his wife, Sue Bourg of Brookeland; son, Randy Bourg of Beaumont; daughter, Donna Cooper of Brookeland; two brothers, Herbie Bourg of Kountze, and Larry Bourg of Bridge City; four grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Relay For Life, P. O. Box 1025, Jasper, Texas 75951.

Dr. H.J. Cothern, Jr.

Dr. H. J. Cothern, Jr., 82 died Tuesday, July 21st, 2015 in Beaumont. Born in Tylertown, Mississippi, Dr. Cothern was a longtime resident of Vidor and served as the Vidor Independent School District Superintendent for 9 years. He loved to travel all over the world and for many years he owned and operated his own travel agency. Dr. Cothern is survived by his loving wife, Norma Cothern, of 57 years, 3 sons, Jay Cothern and wife Kelly of Fannett, Jon Cothern of Vidor, and Joe Cothern and wife Brandy of Vidor. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and was preceded in death by his brother “Bud” Cothern. Visitation will be held Friday, July 24, 2015 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Vidor. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor.
