Glen Horton

Glen Earl Horton, Sr., 82, of Beaumont, died Sunday, March 29, 2015 at his residence. He wa s b o r n i n Kilgore, and worked in the maritime shipping industry. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Army. Funeral Services were held at Melancon’s Funeral Home on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Interment followed at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County in Nederland. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Horton of Beaumont,; daughter, Cody Ingram of Broussard, LA; sons, Tim Horton Savoy of Garland, Arnold Horton of Houston, and Glen Horton, Jr. of Vidor; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Glenda Rutherford of abine Pass.

Steven Lyon Garrett

Steven Lyon Garrett, 47, a longtime resident of the Vidor area died Saturday, March 28th, 2015 in Houston. He was a youth leader at Turning Point Church in Vidor who loved to fish, do woodworking and watch NASCAR. He was also a skilled mechanic and would only drive Dodge vehicles. Steven retired from Ico Polymers of China, TX after 20 years. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 23 years, Kristy Garrett, 3 sons, Clifton Steven Garrett of Beaumont, Zachary Elisha Garrett of Waller, TX and Bryan Tucker Garrett of Vidor, 2 daughters, Jacqulyn Audrene Garrett of Beaumont and Annalyse Lynn Garrett of Vidor.

Dick Edward Turner

Dick Edward Turner, 77, a longtime resident of Vidor died Monday, March 30th, 2015 in Pt. Arthur, TX. He retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after 20 years of service. Dick also worked for the Beaumont Housing Authority in the maintenance department for 10 years. He enjoyed spending time in his garden but he was especially fond of spending quality time with his grandsons. Dick is survived by his daughter, Jessie Gooch and husband James “Jimmy” of Vidor, step-daughter, Frankie Steele, 2 grandsons, Jason and Jerrod Gooch and ex-wife and loving friend, Velma Turner. He is also survived by a neice, Dinah Mitchell, nephew, Nathan “Butch” Addison and a sister-inlaw, Sue Turner. Dick was preceded in death by  his parents, Robert and Dora Turner, 2 sisters, Fannie Lou Turner and Gail Addison, and one brother, Gilbert Turner. A graveside service with  full military honors will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor.

Elizabeth Ann Dedmon

Ann Dedmon, 61, of Vidor died Friday, March 27, 2015 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. A native  f Jacksonville, TX, she was a longtime resident of Vidor. Ann was a homemaker and a loving wife. A funeral liturgy outside mass will be celebrated at 2:00 pm Monday, March 30, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home. Ann was preceded in death  by her parents Moye and Rachel Hayes, sister Brenda Hayes.

Earnest Melvin “Mel” Stephen

Mel Stephen, a native Texan, was born in   Kountze and has been aresident for Vidor since the early 1950s. Mel retired after 32 years of service from DuPont Goodrich in Beaumont,  Texas. Mel worked in several areas within the production and maintenance. Mel became interested in music at an early age and received his first lap steel guitar (homemade)  as a young boy in the 4th grade. His mother, Annie Stephen, started him with his first acoustic guitar lessons at age ten (10) and there is a rich history that followed. In the early years Mel  honed his guitar skills playing with his friends, a variety of small bands, and in many churches. Mel is a Vietnam Era Veteran and took great pride in his service. While  on tour with the U.S. Army in Germany in the late 1960s, he formed his own group, “Country Four Band” of which he was the lead guitarist. The group performed at the USO, Officers, NCO shows and various other social functions.

Marlen Gail Lanthier

Marlen Gail Lanthier, 71, of Vidor, died Saturday, March 28, 2015. The funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday April 1,2015 at Lumberton Family Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. She is survived by her children, Trudy Garrison of Mauriceville, CindyRutledge of Vidor and son, Thomas Hanlon, Jr. of Vidor; brother, Brad Lanthier of Bridge City; sister, Kim Clark of San Angelo; eight grandchildren  nd 10 great-grandchildren.

Maxine Clark

Cecil Maxine Clark, 87, of Magnolia Springs, died Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Woodland Heights Hospital in Lufkin. She was a native ofDeweyville, and was a retired legal secretary  and a member of the Tri- Community volunteerfire department ladies auxiliary. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015 at Forest Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Magnolia Springs Cemetery. She is survived by her husband Robert G. Clark  f Magnolia Springs, brother George MarshallFerguson of Vidor, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Myra J. Dixon

Myra J. Dixon, of  Kountze, died Thursday, March 19, 2015, at VidorHealth in Vidor. She was a native of Kountze. Survivors include her five sons, Dwight, Gregg, Scott, Mark, and Steven; her many grand and great-grandchildren as well as her sister Era Beth Jowers. In lieu of flowers, emorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) to show your  upport for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related illnesses, and their caregivers at www. alzfdn.org.

Michael Kent Judice

Michael Kent Judice died Thursday, March 26, 2015 at his home. He was a native of Beaumont and made his home in Kountze in 1992 and worked as a car salesman for many years. He began his own pilot service business in 2003. He is survived by his wife Peggy Burnett Judice, sister Debra Dunn of Tennessee; four grandchildren; step-sons James Harrison and Justin Okun of Lumberton; sisters in law, Vickie Brekel of Kountze and Melody arrison of Beaumont; father in law Harlan Harrison of Vidor.

Stephen Elijah Barnhart Sr

Stephen E. Barnhart Sr., 62, of Vidor died Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. A native of Beaumont, he was a longtime resident of Bertram, before moving to Vidor three years ago. He was a licensed minister for U.P.C.I. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2015 at Buna United Pentecostal Church in Buna, with burial following at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Liberty Hill. He is survived by his wife Donna Barnhart of Vidor, son Stephen E. Barnhart Jr. of Vidor, Nathan B. Barnhart of Luling, Daniel A. Barnhart of Vidor, daughter Angela Richelle Davidson of Vidor, brothers Preston A. Barnhart of Mauriceville, Thomas  L. Barnhart of Vidor,Henry A. Barnhart of  idor, sisters Tina Bryant of Vidor, Judy R.  ryant, of Oneonta, AL, Shelia Tucker of Vidor, and 10 grandchildren.
