Louise “Boggie” Pickering

Louise “Boggie” Pickering, 82, of Vidor, TX died Friday, September 22nd, 2017. A native of Huxley, TX she was a longtime resident of Vidor and member of Eastgate United Pentecostal Church. Louise liked quilting, crocheting, working crossword puzzles, traveling and camping but she especially enjoyed spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. Visitation was held Monday, September 25, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services were Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home with interment following at Restlawn Memorial Park. Louise is survived by 3 sons; Ronnie Pickering and his wife Debbie of Lumberton, TX, Michael Pickering and his wife Elaine of Vidor, and Terry Pickering and his wife Phyllis of Lumberton, 6 grandchildren; Aaron Pickering and his wife Shelly, Amber Chandler and her husband Delbert, Kristopher Pickering and his wife Regina, Joshua Pickering and Daniel Heath, Deanna Loftin and her husband K.J.

Capri Angel Hampshire

Capri Angel Hampshire, 56, of Vidor, died Thursday, September 21, 2017. She was born on April 12, 1961, in Arnaudville, Louisiana, to Patsy Durio and Michael William Didier, Sr. Capri was a Polysomnographic Technologist (sleep technician). She enjoyed dancing, spending time with her grandchildren, shopping, and crafts. Capri is survived by her husband, Leslie Hampshire; two daughters; four grandchildren; father; six siblings; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother. A gathering of Mrs. Hampshire’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with her memorial service to follow at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, September 30, 2017, at Resurrection Life Church, 145 Evangeline Drive, Vidor. A family committal will be at Broussard’s Crematorium , Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Resurrection Life Church, 145 Evangeline Drive, Vidor, Texas 77662.

James Douglas Smith

James Douglas Smith, 73, of Vidor, died August 30, 2017, at Christus Hospital, St. Elizabeth. Mr. Smith was born on January 20, 1944, in DeRidder, Louisiana, to Leola Denard and Calvin H. Smith. Mr. Smith served in the United States Navy and retired from Mobil Oil as an operator. He enjoyed cooking and especially loved cooking gumbo for his family. He was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s ball games. He is survived by his wife, Carrie Hudson Smith; daughter, Dana York and her husband, Robert; sons, Bryan Smith and his wife, Cassie and Tod Smith; grandchildren, Heather Benbrook and her husband, Andrew, Morgan Lee, Garrett Smith, Tanner Lee, and Caleb Smith; greatgrandchildren, Landon Benbrook and Lahna Benbrook. A family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you help a neighbor affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Charlaie “Charlie” Brandon

Charlaie “Charlie” Lynn Brandon, 38, of Buna, died Thursday, September 21, 2017. She was a native of Westlake, LA. Survivors include her husband, Gene Brandon; sons, Alex Boutte of Vidor and Tyler Jarrell, Nikki Jarrell, Gavin Jarrell, and Ian Jarrell, all of Buna; father, Charles Randell Brewer of Hawaii; sisters, Shelly Wilkerson of Vidor and Sarah Hackney of Georgia; grandparents, Roger Fraiser of Vidor and Betty Brewer of Beaumont; and great-grandmother, Leoma Brogden of Alexander, Louisiana. Her funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 24, 2017, at Buna United Pentecostal Church, Buna, under the direction of Broussard’s, Silsbee. Her interment followed at Antioch Cemetery, Buna.

Mary Lou Chamblee, 96 of Vidor died Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Clairmont Nursing Home in Beaumont. A native of Avoca, AR, she was a longtime resident of Vidor and a homemaker. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. She was survived by her daughter Betty Mae Mouchette of Auburn, WA, granddaughter Lisa Durham of Port Angles, WA, grandson David Broxson of Ceatac, WA, brothers William Goss of Dayton, James Goss of Beaumont, and Robert Goss of Houston

Jenna Ann Puente

Jenna Ann Puente infant daughter of Journey and Laura Lemaire died Tuesday, September 19th, 2017 at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in Beaumont. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. A memorial service was held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Memorial Funeral Home. She is survived her father and mother, Journey and Laura Lemaire; grandparents, Elizabeth Freeman Orange, James Lemaire and Emily Breaux of Vidor, Jennifer Wooten of Vidor, and Frederick Aviles of Beaumont; and greatgrandmother Evelyn Permenter of Vidor.

Bryan Leigh Phillips

Bryan L. Phillips, 37, of Vidor died Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at his residence. He was lifelong resident of Vidor. He was preceded in death by his dad, Max Phillips. He is survived by his children Ashleigh Goodwin, Lyndsie Phillips, Kayleigh Phillips, Lucas Phillips and Laree Phillips; grandson Hudson Goodwin; father Cody Rutherford; mother Judy Smith; brothers Cody Rutherford Jr. and Jake Rutherford; cousins Chondra Pattie and Bradley Phillips. Graveside service will be held at Del Rose Cemetery, Saturday, September 23rd at 10:00 a.m.

John Roland Chambles

John Roland Chambles, age 87, of Latexo, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in Crockett. Roland was born November 27, 1929 in El Campo to parents, John W. Chambles and Louise Nodor Chambles. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy. Roland was a retired pipefitter and a member of the Pipefitters Local #195 in Beaumont. He was also a member of the Latexo Methodist Church and the Lothrop Masonic Lodge #21 AF & AM. Roland is survived by wife, Ollie Myrtle Chambles of Latexo; children, Kenneth Earl Chambles of Vidor and Sherree Pipps and husband, John of Nederland; daughter-in-law, Annie Chambles of Vidor; eight grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by son, John Delton Chambles; grandchildren, Brandy Chambles and Joseph Chambles. Funeral services for John Roland Chambles were held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.

Elaine Smith

Elaine Smith “MeMe”, 78, of Vidor, TX died Saturday, September 16th, 2017 at her home. A native of Vinton, LA she was a longtime resident of Vidor who enjoyed crocheting, working in her garden, especially her rose garden. She was very passionate about cooking and taught her daughters and granddaughters how to cook, she even passed down some of her favorite recipes. Elaine also loved to spend quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 19, 2017 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Pine Forest Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Pine Forest Baptist Church with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Elaine is survived by her loving husband Jimmie Smith of 61 years, 2 daughters; Kathy Wright and her husband Glen and Terri Stewart and her husband Steve, Jr all of Vidor.

Martin Keith Sims

Martin Keith Sims, 68, of Broaddus, TX died Tuesday, September 12th, 2017 at his home. A native of Yakima, WA he was a former resident of Lumberton, TX for 28 years and moved to Broaddus in 2004. Martin was a firefighter and worked for the Beaumont Fire Department and retired after 32 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was a lifetime member of the 11th Armored Calvary Black Horse and loved NASCAR. Visitation was Friday, September 15, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. A graveside service was held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at Restlawn Memorial Park. Martin is survived by his loving wife Judy Sims of 48 years, 1 daughter; Dianna Eaves of Beaumont and 1 son; Gary Sims and his wife Kristy of Broaddus. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 1 sister; Nola Crook of Walla Walla, WA. Martin was preceded in death by his parents; Martin and Mary Sims, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
