Ricky Williamson

Ricky Williamson, 62, a lifelong resident of Vidor died Friday, April 3rd, 2015 in Conroe, Texas. He was a welder and a member of Pipefitters Local 195 in Nederland who loved to fish, hunt, doing woodworking and spending time at the lake on Toledo Bend. Ricky is survived by his loving wife Renee of 29 years, 5 daughters, Bridget Williamson of Tomball, TX, Hayli Jones and husband Whit, Tanya Williamson, Kami Williamson, and Whitney Richard and husband Joe all of Vidor. He is also survived by 3 sisters, Sandy Brinkly of Vidor, Pat Croft of Vidor, and Judy Watson and husband Ivan of Alabama, 3 grandsons, Mitchell Hepner of Tomball, TX, Cade Jones and Colt Jones both of Vidor, 2 grand daughters, Courtney Sondergaard and husband Alex of Jacksonville, NC and Savannah Richard of Vidor. Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Evelina Williamson of Vidor. Visitation will be on Monday, April 6, 2015 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Pecan Acres Baptist Church in Vidor.

Richard Wayne Bertrand

Richard Wayne Bertrand, 81, a longtime resident of Vidor died Sunday, April 5th, 2015 in Beaumont. He worked as an electrician and was a member of I.B.E.W. Local 479. Richard served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean war. He enjoyed watching Texas Longhorn and Houston Texans football. Richard is survived by 2 sons, Ray Bertrand and wife Deborah, Roy Bertrand and wife Tanya, and 1 daughter, Debra Russell and husband Billy all of Vidor. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Dora Morris of Denham Springs, LA and Ethel Foggleman of Bunkie, LA, 1 brother, John Bertrand of Pt. Barre, LA, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Jeanne Bertrand and sister, Lurline Fontenot. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home with interment at Restlawn Memorial Park.

Gem Bordages

Gem Bordages, 79, of Galveston, died Monday, March 30, 2015, at her home. She was a native of Nacogdoches. A Rosary will be recited for Mrs. Bordages at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Galveston. Her Memorial Mass will follow at 2:00 p.m., at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Galveston, under the direction of Broussard’s, Beaumont. Survivors include her children, Cullen Bordages, of Vidor; Laura Freuden, of Albuquerque, NM; Thomas Bordages of Denver, CO; and Claire Bordages, of Galveston; seven grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; and brothers, Travis Browning and Steven Browning. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sunshine Center, Inc, 1726 21st Street, Galveston, Texas 77550.

Wayne Prouse

L. Wayne Prouse, 69, of Orange, died Friday, April 3, 2015, at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange with honors provided by the Sons of Confederate Veterans.A native of Beaumont, he was a teacher with Orangefield ISD for 33 years and St. Mary’s School for two years. Currently he was working part time in the Orange office of Congressman Dr. Brian Babin. He is survived by his wife, Andrea Hallberg Prouse of Orange; son Brandon K. Prouse of Bryan; grandson, Landon Chase Prouse of Bryan; nephew, Trip Prouse and other family.

Shelley Lowitz

Shelley Gay Lowitz, 48, of Nederland died Sunday, March 29, 2015. A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Lumberton Family Funeral Home. She is survived by her children, Devon Joy Sprouse of Nederland and Philip JamesSprouse of Lumberton; father, Jim Johnson of Vidor; mother, Wanda Johnson of Lumberton; two grandchildren; brother, Jeremy James Johnson of Austin; sister, Dalaney Johnson of Kirbyville, and aunt, GayNell McCaughn and husband John E. of Beaumont.

Stanley Orr

Stanley A. Orr, 85, of Lumberton, died Saturday, April 4, 2015. He was a native of DeBerry, and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during World War II. He was retired from SantaFe Railroad. Survivors include his wife, Ramona Orr; children, Dwain S. Orr of Nederland; Wes Orr of Vidor; Chad Orr of Weatherford; and Alice Spencer of Winnie; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mildred McCrary of Carthage and DorothyCulbertson of Greenwood,LA. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at Broussard’s, Silsbee, with interment to follow at Hardin Memorial Park, Silsbee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Orr’s name to Alzheimer’s Association , 2909 West Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas 77025.

Samuel C. (Sam) Rutledge III

Sam was a VHS graduate class of 1958 where he played Clarinet in the Mighty Pirate Marching Band. He was proud of the Band’s many accomplishments. Sam was a great guy who enjoyed school and his classmates. Sam was retired from the Navy as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. He served his country proudly in Vietnam. In his retirement years he taught ROTC at Westbrook HS. He loved the Navy and all it stood for. Sam is buried in the Houston National Cemetery in the veterans section C-14 A96. The family is very proud of this brother, husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Kevin Paul Smithson

Kevin P. Smithson, 50, of Vidor died Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. A native of Pasadena, he was a longtime resident of Vidor, and a heavy equipment operator for I.B.E.W. Local Union #2286. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Trout Creek Cemetery, Trout Creek. He is survived by his wife Beth Smithson of Vidor, sons Russell Partin of Vidor, Joe Read Jr of Vidor, daughter Renee’ Newman of Vidor, brothers Britt Smithson of Tomball, Mitch Smithson of Pasadena, sister Shelley Schrogg of AZ, Charlene Moore of Tomball, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild

Thomas Brown

Thomas Neal Brown, 58, of Port Arthur, died Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Senior Rehabilitation in Port Arthur. A native of Port Arthur, he was reared and lived in Nederland for most of his life. A graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Evergreen Cemetery in Orange. He is survived by his mother, Jewel Railey Steele of Orangefield; siblings, Paul Brown of Vidor, Sue Ann Quinn of Beaumont, Brad Brown of Port Arthur, and Renee Morrison of Baytown.

Glen Horton

Glen Earl Horton, Sr., 82, of Beaumont, died Sunday, March 29, 2015 at his residence. He wa s b o r n i n Kilgore, and worked in the maritime shipping industry. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Army. Funeral Services were held at Melancon’s Funeral Home on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Interment followed at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County in Nederland. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Horton of Beaumont,; daughter, Cody Ingram of Broussard, LA; sons, Tim Horton Savoy of Garland, Arnold Horton of Houston, and Glen Horton, Jr. of Vidor; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Glenda Rutherford of abine Pass.
