B. E. Wharton

B. E. Wharton, 81, Attorney in Vidor, Texas for 40 years, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at his home in Beaumont. He was born September 17, 1933 in Sedalia, Missouri to Sterling and Lois Wharton. The family moved to Devers when he was 16 years of age. In 1951, he headed to the University of Texas at Austin and then went on to graduate from the University of Texas School of Law in 1957. A man of honesty, integrity, and compassion, he was known for generously donating his professional time to individuals and organizations. He received the Paul Harris Fellow Recognition from the Rotary Club during his years of service. The Vidor Chamber of Commerce described him as having a lasting impact on Vidor and Orange County and a champion for the elderly and less fortunate. B.E. is survived by his wife of 52 years, Billie Wharton of Beaumont, his son Timothy Wharton of Georgetown and a daughter, Kara Wharton, of Beaumont.

HELLEN M. RUTLEDGE MITCHELL

Hellen M. Granny Rutledge Mitchell, 71, of Dayton, died Monday, February 9, 2015, at the St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston. She was a native of Beaumont, a former resident of Channelview, and has resided in Dayton for the past 33 years. She was a retired associate for Wal-Mart in Liberty. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 12, 2015, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton. She is survived by her husband, Leland C. Mitchell, Jr. of Dayton, sons: Doug Mitchell of Dayton, Robert Mitchell of Kingwood, and Darrel Mitchell of Vidor, daughter: Lurleen Marie Mitchell Eddleman of Dayton, siblings: Alene Gallier, Snow Reed, Dorothy Evans, Doris Hickman, Joe Rutledge, and Leroy Rutledge all of Beaumont, and 12 grandchildren.

John Paul Feeley

JJohn Paul Feeley, 75  Ivanhoe, Texas passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont, Texas. John Paul was born on November 29th, 1939 to Paul and Agnes Feeley of Chester, Pa. Whether to advance his career as a merchant seaman or in pursuit of his passion for firefighting, John Paul was a lifelong student. Due to this passion for learning he rose to the highest levels of both endeavors. At age 19, John Paul began his career as a merchant seaman as a wiper, an entry level position, and soon found himself moving up the ladder. Through hard work and a quest for knowledge, John Paul became a Chief Engineer at the young age of 36. During his time working for the lykes Brothers Steamship Co. John Paul had the opportunity to see much of the world. As John Paul said “If its got 20 feet of water around it, I’ve probably been there”. In 1984, John Paul went to work for the Trinidad Corp. aboard an oil tanker making pipeline runs to Valdez, Alaska.
