James J. Kelley

James J. Kelley, 65, of Vidor, TX died Tuesday, March 13th, 2018 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, TX. A native of Wichita Falls, TX he was a longtime resident of Vidor. James was a mechanic for Trinity Railcar in Vidor for many years and enjoyed going to the VFW hall with his friends. James is survived by his wife; Sharon Kelley of 46 years, 2 sons; Blue Kelley of Vidor and Rickey Dale Kelley of Mcamey, TX, 4 grandchildren; Tamra, Dakoda, Ceira, and Kyle, and 1 great granddaughter. He is also survived by his mother; Pauline Chamblis, 2 brothers; David and Kevin, and 1 sister; Janet. James was preceded in death by his father; Ralph Kelley. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor.

Margie Ray Linscomb Cropper

Margie Ray Linscomb Cropper was born January 7th, 1932 in Vidor, Texas. She passed Tuesday, March 13th, 2018 at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Ulma Linscomb; and her husband, Ernie Cropper, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her brother and three sisters. Margie is survived by her son, Steve and his wife Deborah, of Vidor; a grandson; Joseph and his wife, Julie and their three children from Lumberton, TX, her granddaughter, Jewelann, and her husband, Justin and their son, Cropper Ray Cournoyer of San Marcos, TX. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. During her career she worked as Vidor City Secretary at the Vidor Tax Office and also worked at the Orange County Water Dept. She was active at the Baptist church where she was a Sunday school teacher and choir member. She also volunteered at Oak Forest Elementary. Her cremation is entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor.

Linda Lee Wright Faveros

Lee Wright Faveros, 66, of Beaumont died Monday, March 6, 2018 at her residence. She was a native of Akron, OH. Survivors include her daughters, Delia Gonzales Simons, Henryetta Gonzales Galaviz, Kisstal Killough all of Las Vegas, NV; sons, Miguel Gonzales of Dallas, and Mathew and Bruce Killough of San Antonio; two sisters, Gloria Fields of Camden, TN, and Brenda Arellano of Vidor; 22 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Orland Lenard “Johny” Johnson

Johny Johnson, 92 of Vidor died Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. A native of Center, he was a longtime resident of Vidor and a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. He is survived by his son, Douglas Johnson of Winnie; daughter, Janice Waddell of Mauriceville; and one grandson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to West Orange Christian Church at 900 Lansing, Orange, TX 77630 or to New Iberian Mission Association (NIMA) at P O Box 15133, Las Cruces, NM 88004-5133.

Dominga “Dee” Gracia

Dominga “Dee” Gracia, 91, of Vidor, died Monday, March 12, 2018. She was born in Beaumont, on January 23, 1927 to Paula Guadiano Guerrero and Isidro Guerrero. “Dee” was a lifelong resident of the area. Survivors include daughters, Sylvia Downs and her husband, Virgil, Sr.; Annette Marshall and her husband, Charles, Sr.; son, Johnnie Gracia, Jr.; grandchildren, Stephanie Thibodeaux and her husband, Brad; Stacey Tatum and her husband, Trey; Virgil Downs, Jr, and his wife, Krystle; Billy John Downs and his wife, Katie; Michelle Anderson; Charles Marshall, Jr.; and Tana Marshall; great-grandchildren, Bailey Rogers, Aniston Tatum, A.J. Tatum, Easton Downs, Addison Downs, Eneas Ander son-Esclante, Skylar Armstrong, Kenedee Richard, Kaden Richard, Bridgette Evick; siblings, Isidro “Butch” Guerrero and Raymond Gutierrez; Paula Guajardo, Margiret Ramirez, Olivia “Levy” Ramirez and Richard Gutierrez; numerous nieces; nephews; and many other family members and friends.

Thelma Byerly Smith

Thelma Byerly Smith, 85, went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. She was born on February 1, 1933 to Ladema and Jesse Byerly. She was a native of Beaumont, Texas and grew up in Vidor, Texas. Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home in Vidor, Texas on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the same place. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, J.V. Byerly, Bill Byerly, Ernest Byerly and her sisters Alice Baker and Dorthy Rousell. She is survived by her husband, James Tilman Smith of Mauriceville, daughters Karen Egulf, husband Ernest, Pam Leger, husband Jay of Mauriceville, Connie Bond, husband Rob of Little Cypress, 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Steve Byerly of Little Cypress. Thelma was a member of the Mauriceville Church of Christ. She was a devout and faithful christian who truly lived a godly life.

LaVerne Elizabeth Knight

LaVerne E. Knight, 88 of Vidor died Friday, March 9th, 2018 at Oakwood Manor Nursing Home in Vidor. A native of DeRidder, LA, she was a longtime resident of Vidor. LaVerne was a member of River of Life Church in Vidor and was a cafeteria worker in Vidor High School for years. She enjoyed going out to eat and playing Bingo. Visitation was at 6:00 pm Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services were held at 10:00 am Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Memorial Funeral Home with burial following at Providence Cemetery in Rose Pine, Louisiana at 2:00 pm. LaVerne was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Knight, siblings Harvey, Clovis, O’Neal, Bruce and Glenn White, Latane Bates, Lanell Kreyssig, Genevia Irvin.

Hubert Wilson Moore

Hubert Wilson Moore, 89, of Vidor, Texas passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018. Hubert was born on October 9, 1928 in Deweyville, Texas. Hubert had an uncertain childhood, but then at age 17, he was able to homestead property on the Neches River in Lakeview, Texas where he would remain for the rest of his life. Hubert owned and operated the Moore boat launch for over 60 years on his property on the river. Hubert was often referred to as the “Mayor of Lakeview”, unofficially of course. Hubert was a kind, goodhearted man who always had a smile for everyone. He never met a stranger, and he was a great storyteller. His daughter stated that she never saw Hubert get mad about anything or at anyone. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Hubert is survived by his daughter, Tabitha Lamar, and husband, Gary; and a grandson, Calvin Lamar.

Delores “Dee” Mae Sanford-Moore

Delores “Dee” Mae Sanford-Moore, 77, of Vidor, TX died Wednesday, February 28th, 2018 at her home. A native of Arkansas she was a longtime resident of Vidor. Dee was a school teacher for Vidor Independent School District and was “School Teacher of the Year” several times before retiring after 35 years. She had a passion for children’s education with an emphasis on managing dyslexia. Dee enjoyed reading and collecting jewelry and was a member of Grace Community Church in Vidor. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 7, 2018 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Dee is survived by her son; Ronnie Sanford and his wife Olga of Plano, TX, granddaughter; Anastasia Sanford, 2 sisters; Patricia Shields and Ruth Popp.
