Billie Lee Bell

Billie Lee Bell, 87, of Vidor, TX died Saturday, May 11th, 2019 at Silsbee Oaks Health Care. She was a native of Tokio, AR and a longtime resident of Vidor. She was also a longtime visitor of Lakeview and Maplecrest Baptist Churches. Billie was a Baptist by faith and believed salvation came through Jesus Christ. She earned her Bachelor’s degree while raising 3 children. Billie worked as a teacher and in office management after teaching before retiring. In her spare time she enjoyed camping, growing flowers, going to garage sales, and loved dancing. Billie also enjoyed flipping houses for added income. Billie was known to love life and people and astonishing them. Billie is survived by 1 son; Eddie Jewell and his wife Sue of Mauriceville, TX, 2 daughters; Janice White and her husband Jerry of Vidor and Karen Bullock and her husband Carl of Mauriceville, 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.

Alma Rae McConnell

Alma Rae McConnell, 85, of Vidor, died Friday, May 10, 2019, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. She was born on August 10, 1933, to Eva Avant Henson and Elmer Olden Henson, in Conroe. Alma was a devoted member of Christ’s Community Church in Vidor for twenty-eight years. She loved to work in her garden and feed the birds. Alma was part of the generation that took pride in the appearance outside of her home. She was a devoted mom, sister, and aunt.

Survivors include her daughters, Connie McConnell McDonald and her husband, Stephen, of Hunt and Karen Duke and her husband, Danny, of Vidor; brother, Bobby Henson and his wife, Mary, of Vidor; grandsons, Davin Richards and Danny Joe Duke, Jr., both of Vidor, Gregory Hollis of Beaumont, and Robert Duke of Vidor; special niece who she raised, Pam Patterson and her husband, Dan, of East Tawakoni; and eighteen nieces and nephews.

Mary Lou French Jennings

Mary Lou French Jennings went home to be with her Lord on May 11, 2019 at her home at 1560 Ricky St. Vidor Texas. She was a great granddaughter of John Jay French, Sr.of Beaumont, Texas. She was married to her childhood sweetheart Jim Jennings on August 20, 1960. They lived in SE Texas most of their lives. She is preceded in death by her father Henry Grafton French & mother Louella French of Kountze, Texas. Also, 2 brothers John Henry French & Willard Ray French of Kountze. She was a Sunday School teacher for most of her adult life. She taught many children about God and His Love for us and the importance of a Christian Life. There are many testimonies of the result she had in leading them to Christ. She was truly a virtuous woman as described in the Holy Bible. She was a great wife & mother for these past 59 years. She always stood by her man and encouraged him in his endeavors. She was also a loving supporter of her 2 children.

Ricky Hampshire

Ricky Hampshire born March 31, 1962 in Beaumont, Texas, passed away May 4, 2019 at his home.

He went to Heaven to be with his dad and mom, J. W. and Jean; his sister, Karen; his brothers, Kerry and Ray; and niece Jen-Jen Denton. He was loved and will be missed by all.

Left here to remember him is his wife of 38 years, Barbara; his fur baby, Angel; his sister, Kathi and husband Gary Denton; his son-inlaw, Paul Cross; his grandson, Jacobe Cross; along with numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

He worked at Bo-Mac Marine Yard for 10 years.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Friendship Bible Baptist Church. 3680 S. Main St., Vidor, TX 77662.

ROBERT “ROBBY” VINCENT WOODIN II

Robert V. Woodin II, 50 of Vidor died Saturday, May 4th, 2019 at his residence. A native of Beaumont, TX, he was a longtime resident of Vidor. Robert was an industrial painter and enjoyed fishing. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and served his county in the U.S. Army during the Gulf War. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, May 10, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Robert is survived by his mother Jimmie Stone of Vidor, TX, sisters Mary Elizabeth McCune of Silsbee, TX, Cathy Nix Gladden of Jacksonville, TX, Caroline Ett Miller of Hamshire, TX and Wendy Lee Cote of New Hampshire, step brother David Stone of San Antonio, TX and step sister Lisa Stone of Houston, TX.

Timothy Owen Looney

Tim O. Looney, 68 of Vidor died Saturday, May 4th, 2019 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, TX. A native of Ardmore, Oklahoma, he was a longtime resident of Vidor. Tim retired from Huntsman Chemical Plant in Port Arthur after 34 years of service. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam conflict where he received the Purple Heart Medal. Tim was active in the local AA and loved to help people. Tim enjoyed walking and playing bingo, but most of all he loved his grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor.

Gertrude “Lee” Baswell

Gertrude “Lee” Baswell, 76, of Silsbee, passed away Monday, May 6, 2019. She was born in Steubenville, OH August 12, 1942. Lee was a homemaker who loved crafts and tending to her yard. She had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. She couldn’t ever do enough for people. She was a loving woman who devoted her life to her family. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Lee is preceded in death by her parents Louis and Margaret Barrett; brother, Tommy Barrett; daughter, Becky Moore; grandchildren, Veronica Grider, and Erik Carlton.

JOHN S. WALKER

John S. Walker, 54 of Vidor died Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at his residence. A native of Lake Charles, Louisiana, he was a longtime resident of Vidor. John was self employed and was an avid sports fan, his favorite teams where the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Astros. He was a proud member of the Vidor Pirate’s Football Team in high school. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. John is survived by his step father Chuck Ogden of Vidor, TX, sisters Elizabeth L. Walker of Vidor, TX and Tanya Sowell of LA.

JACK E. TURNER

Jack E. Turner, 83 of Vidor died Sunday, April 28th, 2019 at his residence. A native of Alex, Arkansas, he was a longtime resident of Vidor. Jack was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church and was a retired millwright supervisor with BASF in Port Arthur. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Jack is survived by his wife of 63 years Betty Turner of Vidor, TX, son Danny Turner of Beaumont, TX, daughter Teri Glisson of Vidor, TX, brother Bobby Turner of Ozone, AR, sisters Sue Powell and Phyllis Romero both of Toledo Bend, TX; three Grandsons; four Granddaughters; numerous Great Grandkids, and nieces and nephews.

Mark Allen Burnett, 52 of Kirbyville, TX died Friday, April 26, 2019 in Vidor. A native of Beaumont, TX, he was a longtime resident of Kirbyville, TX. Mark was a welder and enjoyed racing cars and motorcycles. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Mansfield Cemetery in Vidor. Mark is survived by his daughter Chelsea Botley of Little Rock, AR, parents Ronnie and Linda Burnett of Kirbyville, Texas, brothers Ronnie Burnett Jr of Vidor, TX, Stacy Baker of Orange, TX, and Dustin Driskell of Nederland, TX, sisters Debbie Mitchell of Lumberton, TX and Karen Ackerman of The Colony, TX.
