COLBY LANE COOPER

Colby L. Cooper, 21 of Vidor died Friday, December 20th, 2019 in Vidor. A native of Beaumont, TX, he was a Lifelong resident of Vidor. Colby was a member of Turning Point Church in Vidor and was a Crane Operator Apprentice with Deep South in Beaumont for the past one and half years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also gave the most unforgettable hugs. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Friday, December 27, 2019 at Turning Point Church. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Turning Point Church with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Colby was preceded in death by his grandfather Robert Cooper and best friend Lance Butts.

VERA MAE JOHNSON

Vera Mae Johnson, 88, of Vidor, TX died Saturday, December 21st, 2019 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. A native of Cravens, LA she was a longtime resident of Vidor and member of First Baptist Church of Vidor. Vera enjoyed sewing, quilting, and reading western novels. She was known to have a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Visitation was on Sunday, December 22, 2019, 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services were Monday, December 23, 2019, 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home followed by interment at Restlawn Memorial Park. Vera is survived by 2 daughters; Suzy Cain of Anahuac, TX and Etta Sowell of Vidor, 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 sisters; Veta Goodwin and Rovera Feaster along with numerous nieces and nephews.

BILLY FRANK “COWBOY” LEMARE

Billy F. LeMare, 84 of Vidor died Wednesday, December 11th, 2019 in Vidor. A native of Beaumont, TX, he was a longtime resident of Vidor. Billy retired from Bethlehem Steel as a truck driver. He enjoyed flea marketing all around. Visitation was held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Friday, December 13, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services began at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home followed by burial at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Billy is survived by his wife of 65 years Barbara LeMare, daughters Betty Bollich, Donna Constance and her husband Ricky, son Clint LeMare and his wife Melissa all of Vidor, TX, sister Barbara Straton of Beaumont, TX, 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

INEZ SHOCKOME

Inez Shockome, 73, of Vidor, TX died Tuesday, December 17th, 2019 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. A native of Sulphur Springs, TX she was a longtime resident of Vidor who enjoyed sewing, doing arts and crafts and making Christmas ornaments. She also enjoyed making things for her grandchildren and spending time with her family. Visitation was Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor with funeral services at 3:00 p.m. Inez is survived by 3 daughters; Jodie McCoy of Sulphur, LA, Merret Kitchens and her husband Steve of Lumberton, MS, and Donna Lear and her husband Jamie of Vidor, and 1 son; Freddy Shockome of Vidor. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 3 sisters; Ann Guthrie, Naoma Roark and Karen Rowzee and 3 brothers; Robby Ward, Donald Ward, and Bobby Ward. Inez was preceded in death by her husband; Fred Shockome, parents; Joe and Audie Ward, 2 sisters; Nell and Zarita, and 3 brothers; Kenneth, Nelson, and Paul.

Brenda Blount, 70, passed away Friday, November 29th, 2019 at Vidor Health and Rehab. A native of Beaumont who loved cooking. She always gave 1000% in everything she did. Brenda was known to be a very kind and loving person to everyone and never met a stranger. She is survived by her loving husband; Robert Blount, 3 sons; Bennie Huckabay of Beaumont, Derek Simon and James Simon of Texarkana, TX, mother Maxine Gallier, 2 grandchildren, 2 cousins, and 1 uncle.

LARRY DARREN HYDE SR.

Larry Darren Hyde, 49 of Vidor died Friday, December 13, 2019 in Orangefield, TX. A native of Port Arthur, TX, he was a longtime resident of Vidor. Larry was a pipe fitter with Turner Ind. in Lake Charles, LA and was a member of Serenity Oak Ministries in Vidor. He graduated from Port Neches/Groves High School in 1989. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and fishing. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow at The Cemetery in Mauriceville. He is survived by his sons Larry Darren Hyde Jr of Las Vegas, NV, and Landon Hyde of Vidor, TX, daughters Marissa Marie Hyde and Brooke Marie Hyde both of Vidor, TX, parents Sheila and Jerry Smith of Vidor, TX, and Larry I. Hyde of Port Neches, TX, sister Glynda Marie Manuel of Crystal Beach, TX, 1 grandson, 1 niece, and 2 great nephews.

Charlie Pruitt

Charlie Pruitt was born to a family of sharecroppers in White County, Arkansas on March 3, 1932. He hitchhiked to Beaumont, Texas after finishing high school. He served in Korea, took care of his mother Annie, raised a family, and worked 38 years at the Mobile and DuPont refineries. His passion was hosting the Charlie Pruitt Country Music Show, which ran for 25 years at the Jefferson Theater. The Show provided a family-friendly venue for aspiring young musicians to perform, and it greatly contributed to the promotion of country music in Southeast Texas. Charlie is survived by his daughter Charla Smallwood; his son Kyle Pruitt; his grandchildren James Barnhart, Deon Nelson, and Hannah Etter; and his greatgrandchildren Hank and Hazel Etter. He was preceded in death by his daughter Paula McKinley. He was married to Elizabeth Donan Youngblood Pruitt for 35 years.

FRANK CLIFF CARTER SR.

Frank “Cliff” Carter Sr., 72, of Vidor, TX died Monday, December 16th, 2019 Focused Care Nursing Home in Orange. A native of Beaumont he served his country in the U.S. Army. Frank worked as a supervisor for Southwestern Bell and was the owner of Carter Racing Enterprises. After retiring he was the owner of Jaco Sales and Rental and enjoyed working on engines, race cars and heavy equipment but he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Visitation will be Friday, December 20, 2019 at Pecan Acres Baptist Church from 9:00a.m to 11:00a.m. with funeral services at 11:00a.m. Interment will follow at Stephenson Cemetery. Frank is survived by his wife of 53 years; Jane Carter, 1 daughter; Debra Garlington of Vidor, 1 son; Frank Clifton Carter Jr of Lumberton, 3 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters, and 2 brothers.

Funeral services for Minerva Luna, age 54 of Vidor, Texas and formerly of Seminole, Texas were held Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Seminole with Pastor Joe Stewart officiating. Burial followed at Gaines County Cemetery. All services were under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.

Ethan W. Woods, 22 of Lumberton, TX died Monday, December 9th, 2019 in Lumberton. A native of Nederland, TX, he was a lifelong resident of Vidor before moving to Lumberton 1 years ago. Ethan love muddying in any kind of 4x4. Ethan was a character and enjoyed fishing. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm Friday, December 13, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home followed by burial at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Ethan is survived by his parents Wayne and Kimberly Woods of Kirbyville, TX, sister Catherine Power of Cushion, OK, Taylor of Breckenridge, TX, Nicole Ramsey of Lubbock, TX, grandparents Orbie Wayne Woods Sr. of Vidor, TX, Joe Stegall of Vidor, TX and Georgie Brooks of Stark, FL, numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
