Outstanding Vocal Soloists

Vidor Junior High students who received the prestigious honor of being named outstanding soloists at the recent solo and ensemble contest were left to right.. Lauryn Self, Raethen Accardo, and Aniston Tatum. VJHS choir director is Robin Corley.

Dr. Suess Birthday

In addition to Vidor schools, Sonic celebrated Dr. Suess’ birthday last Wednesday. Employees dressed as Suess characters and read his books to children. There were also coloring pages and other fun activities.

VMS #BOOMSAUCE

VMS Principal Mr. Jason Yeaman got cold water dumped on him by assistant principals Mrs. Lamey and Mrs. Patterson in recognition of technology funds raised this week by selling VMS #BOOMSAUCE bracelets at lunch! Yeaman says, “We strive to bring our BOOMSAUCE daily to VMS and making sure we are striving for greatness! BOOMSAUCE:The highest possible degree of amazing and perfection, a billion times stronger than ‘awesome sauce.’”

Big Bug Project

On February 22, 2016, educators from the Stark Museum of Art and Shangri-La provided the Kindergarten students of Pine Forest Elementary with an informative, fun, and hands-on educational experience. Students had a lesson on basic color theory. Then they collaboratively mixed primary colors to make a secondary color, and then learned to tint the color using white.

Monster Truck

Marten Holeman of Vidor Elementary entered a drawing and won a visit from Monster Nation for his school . The students enjoyed seeing the monster truck. Marten is in fourth grade . He is shown with his mother and father, Becky and Jeremy Perrio.

VISD names Christy Bailey Employee of the Month

Vidor High School’s Christy Bailey was named Vidor Independent School District’s Employee of the Month for February in the Monday, February 15 Board of Trustees meeting. She was nominated by Suzette Ross, who says, “Mrs. Bailey has been fabulous getting me set up to teach mainstream this school year.

1920s Day: It’s the bee’s knees

ORANGE — Travel back in time to the 1920s at The W.H. Stark House on March 5 from 9am-2pm for “1920s Day: It’s the Bee’s Knees!” Connect the Stark House and W.H. Stark Family to a decade of their history by exploring the art, culture, and economy of the 1920s with hands-on, history based activities and a specialized tour.

Brigs Visit Nursing Home

The Vidor High School Brigadettes made Gingerbread houses with their Brig sister to take to the nursing home. Their houses were first judged by some teachers and then taken to Oakwood Manor for the residents to enjoy. While visiting Oakwood Manor, the Brigs performed hand routines from football season to Christmas music for the residents to enjoy.

Itty Bitty Story Time

The Vidor Public Library held Itty Bitty Story Time on Thursday, February 18, 2016. Program Coordinator Megan Ridlespurge read “QPootle5” by Nick Butterworth. The children made paper spaceships for the craft.
