Vidor Represented at RYLA

Attending Rotary Youth Leadership Awards this past weekend were Charlie Huang, Emma Huebel, Alexus Franks, and Mykailyn Harbison. They are pictured with President Elect Tim Andrews. The students heard from Rotarians and Rotaractors about trust, kindness, and friendship, and learned leadership skills at the camp.

Itty Bitty Story Time

Vidor Public Library held Itty Bitty Story Time on Thursday, January 7, 2016. Program Coordinator Megan Ridlespurge read New York Times bestseller “Dragons Love Tacos” by Adam Rubin. The audience learned why dragons love tacos and not spicy salsa. The children made paper dragons for the craft.

LCM Claims Spots in All-Region Band

Twenty-seven musicians from the Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School Band earned positions in the Texas Music Educators Association All-Region Band. Several students also placed achieved All-Area and/or All-Region Orchestra.

LCI Students Use Robots

Students in Brenda Jones fourth grade math class built a Lego Mindstorms robot. It took them approximately 5 weeks, working on it in 30 minute intervals per day to complete the Tracker. When it was finished, they shared with the rest of their class how they can use a remote to control their programmable robot. In the future, they will be working on finding a way to program their robot to interact with them in various ways.

Purple Santa

The Mauriceville Elementary staff and student council, along with some help from the St. Maurice Catholic Church of Mauriceville, First Baptist Church of Mauriceville, Sabine River Ford, and ITW Mueller, were able to provide Christmas assistance through their Purple Santa program to 57 MVE children this Christmas. Teachers and staff in the attached photo get the presents ready to distribute to the children who will receive them.
