BUGS Exhibition Celebration

ORANGE — The Stark Museum of Art proudly presents the BUGS Exhibition Celebration on Saturday, April 2 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Museum guests may experience BUGS, a companion exhibition to David Rogers’ BIG BUGS currently on display at Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center.

Kennon - Smith Engagement

Rusty and Janie Kennon of Vidor announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Paige Michelle to Zackary Ryan Smith, son of Lee and Christie Streu of North Carolina. The wedding is set for Saturday, the sixteenth day of April, two thousand sixteen at half past six in the evening. To be held at The Laurels, Beaumont, Texas. Mark Legendre, minister for the North Main Church of Christ will officiate.

The elementary school cafeterias in Vidor celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday with dressing up and holding prize giveaways. Vidor Elementary drawing winners 1st place, Dr Seuss Books

Operation River Rescue

The congregation of the First Pentecostal Church of Vidor has launched a food and supply collection drive for flood victims that they are calling Operation River Rescue. The Congregation plans to collect canned goods, water, cleaning supplies, diapers, baby formula, personal hygiene items and other supplies that might be needed by those whose homes are flooded. Donations are appreciated during daytime hours at the church’s pantry at Camp Street and Wilson Street across from the Vidor Sub courthouse.

Congratulations to Stark Reading contest winners at LCM High School

ORANGE — Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School students Vincent Hale and Connor Alexander earned first place in Declamation and Interpretive Reading, respectively, at the school-level finals of the 112th Miriam Lutcher Stark Contest in Reading and Declamation, a scholarship program sponsored by the Nelda C. and H.J. Lutcher Stark Foundation. On Sunday, March 6, 2016, Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School students competed in the local-level contest, which was coordinated by Melanie Claybar, Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School teacher and school director for the Stark Reading Contest.

Pillars of the Community

Recognized as Pillars of the Community in Vidor Rotary Club’s Monday meeting were left to right Eddie Wedgeworth, Keith McDonald, and Jeanne Taylor, Director of Transportation for Vidor ISD. They have all been instrumental in the green bus program from the beginning, and are happy to help with the bus maintenance and running. President Elect Tim Andrews honored them with certificates and books dedicated on the bus in their honor.
