LCM’s One Act Play On a Roll

The Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School UIL One Act Play Company competed at the Bi-District Contest held at Lamar-Port Arthur on Wednesday, March 30. The group previously advanced from their District Contest with a First Place ranking from all three judges. The students again earned a First Place ranking from every member of the judging panel advancing them to the 4A Region III Area 2 One Act Play Contest on Saturday, April 9 at Magnolia High School.

Lamar University hosts inaugural Brass Festival

Lamar University’s Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music will host its inaugural Brass Festival, a three day event celebrating brass instrumentalists, April 7-9, in the Simmons Music Building. The festival will offer guest artist, faculty and student performances, master classes, clinics and exhibits.

50 Years of Spring Revue: A Golden Event

Where were you fifty years ago? Forty Years Ago? Thirty Years Ago? The VHS Brigadettes will celebrate 50 years of Spring Revue on Monday, April 11th at 7:00 p.m. in the Vidor High School Auditorium. Dance and twirl groups will perform to all your old-time favorites as they commemorate fifty years of music and dance through Spring Revue.

Cosmetology Students Advance

The Vidor High School Cosmetology students created hair designs for mannequin heads and panel boards for the District Skills USA competition held at Lamar last month. Hailee Riley and Cortni DuBose each received “Best of Show” in their categories. The students have advanced to the State Skills USA that will be held in Corpus Christi later this week.

Radiance

On March 11 the Pirate Players competed in District 22 AAAAA One Act Play competition. Vidor High School took home 1st place and advance to the Bi-District Competition on April 2nd at Lee College in Baytown. The Pirates will take the stage at approximately 3:30pm. Director is Adam Conrad.

Vidor ISD names Oak Forest’s Erin Taylor as March Employee of the Month

Erin Taylor of Oak Forest Elementary was named Vidor Independent School District’s Employee of the Month for March during the Monday evening Board of Trustees meeting . Taylor is a fourth grade English/Language Arts/ Reading teacher with seventeen years of experience. Nominated by principal James McDowell.

LCM Board names new principal to begin this summer

Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD Board of Trustees named Todd Loupe as the new High School principal in their regular March meeting on Monday evening. The District started the selection process earlier this semester when current High School Principal Dr. Terri Estes announced her retirement plans for the end of the 2015- 2016 school year. Mr. Loupe will complete the school year in his position as Principal of Mauriceville Middle School and begin his new assignment this summer.

ORANGE — The Stark Museum of Art proudly presents the BUGS Exhibition Celebration on Saturday, April 2 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Museum guests may experience BUGS, a companion exhibition to David Rogers’ BIG BUGS currently on display at Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center.

Kennon - Smith Engagement

Rusty and Janie Kennon of Vidor announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Paige Michelle to Zackary Ryan Smith, son of Lee and Christie Streu of North Carolina. The wedding is set for Saturday, the sixteenth day of April, two thousand sixteen at half past six in the evening. To be held at The Laurels, Beaumont, Texas. Mark Legendre, minister for the North Main Church of Christ will officiate.
