Purple Santa

The Mauriceville Elementary staff and student council, along with some help from the St. Maurice Catholic Church of Mauriceville, First Baptist Church of Mauriceville, Sabine River Ford, and ITW Mueller, were able to provide Christmas assistance through their Purple Santa program to 57 MVE children this Christmas. Teachers and staff in the attached photo get the presents ready to distribute to the children who will receive them.

Region and Area Band

Earning positions in the TMEA Region 10 All Region band were Vidor High School students (top to bottom) Marcus James, Jacob Merrell, Heidi Mercer, Nathan Smith, Ana Plake, Kendall Moorman (alternate), Kristen Davis, Lorraine Crump, and Adriana Avalos.

MMS All Region Band Members

Mauriceville Middle School’s Band Director, Kathy Smith, has announced the MMS Students who earned chairs in the Texas Music Educator Association’s Annual All-Region Band. Students representing their school will be Timmy Bahl - Tenor Saxophone, Grace Tally – Flute, Collin Freed – Tuba, Kelsey Jordan – Clarinet, Caleb Weaver - Baritone Saxophone, Jared Pierce - French horn, Lizzy DeLaFuente - French Horn and Trace Shannon, who placed first chair in both Tenor and Baritone Saxophone.

Pictured with Vidor Elementary principal Mr. Jeff Leger were Alice Webster, PTO treasurer and Kristina Hebert, PTO president. The group helps accomplish many things on the campus but the la test was the purchase of some vital technology for the students of VE to use. The VJH Treble combined choirs sang Arise, Shine, Jesus Has Come! and Frosty the Snowman. Jackson Spencer, Blaiz Lopez and Kaide Mills played the bells.

Honey Bear Boosters Donate

On Monday, December 7, the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Honey Bear Booster Club presented the Little Cypress Intermediate Stay and Play Program with a check in the amount of $300.00. Accepting the check on behalf of the Stay and Play program was teacher Rachel Choate, nurse Kelly Meadows and students of LCI. Representing the Honey Bear Boosters were Club President Darla Norman and Booster Member Joe Tant.

Volunteer Recognition

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Orange County recognized their 2015 volunteers at the volunteer appreciation dinner (December 1,2015) at the convention and expo center in Orange. Volunteers represented the 3 extension program areas (4-H & Youth Development, Family and Consumer Sciences and Agriculture and Natural Resources). The purpose of the evening was to appreciate the volunteers efforts throughout the year.
