Perfect Attendance Incentive

Vidor Elementary students were treated to a fun time of jumping in an inflatable obstacle course and inflatable bounce house as a reward for perfect attendance. DPS urges motorists to stay alert, use caution around motorcyclists

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is reminding drivers to use extra caution around motorcycles on roadways as part of Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month in May. DPS recommends all drivers “Share the Road: Look Twice for Motorcycles,” which is the Texas Department of Transportation’s public awareness campaign highlighting motorcycle safety.

Fun, educational summer camps for grades K-12

ORANGE — EcoRangers and Art Quest Summer Camps are designed to actively engage students during the summer months. All camps have a low student-to-teacher ratio, which enhances handson learning in all environments. Depending on the camp, students may explore a variety of ecosystems, study different critters, complete art projects, and engage in many hands-on activities and active games.

LCM - Ready, Set, Teach

Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School students of Babs Foster’s Ready, Set, Teach class have been busy this year getting some hands-on experience in the field they plan to study after graduation. The students started campus/ teacher rotations in the classroom in October. They spend about 30 to 40 minutes, two days a week shadowing teachers in the classroom. So far, they have spent 20.5 hours observing and assisting teachers.

VJHS Symphonic Band takes Sweepstakes

The Vidor Junior High symphonic band and their director Trubie Smith came out ahead of almost all of the competition at the recent concert and sightreading contest, which is held annually to rate bands on their prepared music as well as on their ability to read new pieces.

Balloon Car Races

Mrs. Robin James’ classes were holding finals in balloon car races at Vidor Middle School. The students were studying force, motion, and the different types of energy. They were expected to compare and contrast potential and kinetic energy, calculate average speed using distance and time measurement, and describe the changes in position, directions, and speed when acted on by a force.
