Hurricane Delta winds leave many in the dark

For the second time in less than two months, Vidor and Orange County has received a glancing blow from first, Hurricane Laura, and last week, Hurricane Delta. Spared the flooding of Harvey and Imelda, both storms wreaked havoc with high winds and downed power lines.

Even as crews worked to remove debris form Hurricane Laura, residents began piling Delta’s leftovers alongside the roadway. Unlike Laura, fewer sections of the Vidor area lost power, but widespread outages put much of Vidor and Orange County in the dark, mainly from fallen trees and downed lines.

Entergy reported as of 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, Entergy Texas has 16,207 customers currently without power, which is down from 108,891 at the peak of the storm. Entergy Texas has restored power to approximately 92,000 customers. Currently, Entergy Texas has nearly 2,200 workers currently engaged in the restoration effort.
