The Freshman Vidor Pirates hosted the Lumberton Raiders Thursday at Pirate Stadium for a football matchip that saw a scoreless first quarter as each team looked for an opportunity to score.

It wasn’t until 5:02 in the 2nd quarter the Lumberton Raiders drew first blood following a Vidor fumble on the Raider 44. Driving down to the Pirate five yard line, the Raider QB scored on a keeper. The PAT failed and the score was 6-0 in the visitors’ favor.

The Raiders tried an onside kick which was covered by the Pirates’ Ethan Sanchez on the Vidor 42. The Pirates drove to the Raider 34, but a sack back to the 38 led to the ball going over with less than 25 seconds left in the half and the Raiders let the clock run.
