In-person school will begin on August 12

“I prefer a firm start date, either in the schools on campuses or going virtual,” said Dr. Jay Killgo, Vidor I.S.D. Superintendent of Schools. “That is the plan right now. Now something could come up, anything could change. But the plan right now is to be in school on August 12. And we are going to provide a topnotch education for all of our students, at school, at home, wherever they may be, we are going to prepare them for the future. And besides, we’ve faced hardship in the last four years, we’ve managed Harvey, we’ve managed Imelda, and we will manage this.”

Texas Education Agency (TEA) Commissioner Mike Morath, announced a plan last Wednesday, for the return of students to public schools in Texas. That announcement came with a set of Public Health Planning Guidance for School Year 2020-2021 that include recommendations and rules for the return of Texas Students to their classrooms.
