Local sales tax allocations continue to climb

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar recently announced Texas cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts would receive $744.2 million in local sales tax allocations for July, 2.6 percent less than in July 2019. These allocations are based on sales made in May by businesses that report tax monthly.

In spite of the statewide downward trend, Orange County municipalities, with the exception of Rose City, reported gains in sales tax revenue compared to 2019, as did Orange County itself.
