Orange County COVID-19 cases spike in June

Since the Memorial Day holiday weekend, the number of documented Orange County citizens who have tested positive for the COVID-19 Coronavirus has jumped from about 12 active cases on May 28, 2020 to 79 active cases on June 23, 2020. That is an increase of 67 newly discovered active cases of Coronavirus in Orange County in the month of June or an increase of over 600%

Since May 15 th , 2020 when the six-county Southeast Texas Emergency Operations Center, which served as our local COVID-19 testing and information center for citizens in Jefferson, Hardin, Orange, Tyler, Newton and Jasper Counties, closed down, accurate statistics about local COVID-19 testing and the numbers of citizens testing positive have been left to local doctors and area clinics to compile and report. That means that the numbers above may actually be less than accurate and they might be reporting fewer numbers of those tested and found to have been exposed to the Coronavirus than actually exist.
