Vidor loses mayor, gains city manager

Vidor Mayor Kimberly Stiebig resigned her position effective June 2, as a new city manager takes the helm.

Council members will consider Stiebig’s resignation Thursday following a welcome reception for new city manager Robbie Hood, former Pinehurst city manager.

Stiebig’s said her unexpected departure was prompted by increased work demands due to COVID-19.

Citing her resignation letter, Stiebig noted “This decision was not reached easily and is probably one of the hardest ones I have ever made. There are many factors behind this decision, but what it comes down to is the split of time between my job of 17 years and the seat I hold. It has become very difficult to balance both as it is near impossible to provide each position it deserves to be effective. Both my employer and the citizens of this community deserve better than what I have been able to give each, as well as the Council and employees of this city.”
