Log truck driver killed in Mauriceville crash

A tragic traffic collision took the life of a Nacogdoches man on Thursday morning of last week.

According to Sergeant Stephanie Davis of the Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) the fatal traffic collision took place on State Highway 62 about a mile north of its intersection with Texla Road (F.M. 2802), just north of Mauriceville.

Sergeant Davis reported in a TXDPS news release that Highway Patrol Troopers of the TXDPS were first dispatched to the scene of what was reported to dispatch as a multiple vehicle crash. Troopers arrive on the scene to discover the collision only involved two vehicles, one of them a commercial vehicle.

During their preliminary collision investigation, TXDPS troopers determined that a commercial motor vehicle hauling timber was traveling southbound on Highway 62 approaching Mauriceville. Troopers have also determined that a Ford passenger vehicle was being driven south on Wade Road approaching Highway 62.
