Port Neches plant explosion rattles Vidor windows, trips alarms

An ominous black plume of smoke emanating from the TPC Group chemical plant explosions and fire in Port Neches was clearly visible from North Main Street in Vidor on Wednesday afternoon. The smoke plume from the burning plant stayed mostly away from Vidor as the plant continued to burn for the next six days.

A massive explosion in a processing unit at a Port Neches chemical plant was heard and felt in Vidor, nearly thirteen miles away from the location of the blast near the intersection of F.M. 366 and Spur 136, in Port Neches last Wednesday morning.
