Twenty-nine year-old Jesse Allen Griffin of Vidor was charged with two-counts of intoxication manslaughter following a collision with two vehicles stopped in early morning traffic on westbound I-10 in Orange on Wednesday morning.

Two men from Mississippi were killed early Wednesday morning in Orange when their pickup truck was sandwiched between a truck that rear-ended them driven by a Vidor man and other vehicles stopped in on the roadway in front of the Mississippi men due to an earlier traffic collision.

According to Sergeant Stephanie Davis of the Beaumont District Office of the Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS), the fatal collision occurred in the westbound lanes of I-10 near Adams Bayou in Orange around 5:00 a.m.

TXDPS Highway Patrol troopers responded to a reported six-car collision with injuries on the westbound Interstate 10 near Adams Bayou in Orange County. Investigating troopers reported that westbound traffic was stopped on the Interstate due to an earlier non-fatal traffic collision.

Investigating troopers determined that the driver of a GMC pickup truck was traveling at highway speeds towards the stopped vehicles ahead of him on the freeway. The Troopers found evidence that indicates that the driver of the GMC pickup, 29-yearold Jessie Griffin of Vidor, failed to control his pickup truck’s speed and sideswiped a Hyundai passenger vehicle stopped on the roadway. Griffin then rear ended a Ford pickup truck that was stopped in the roadway which caused a chain reaction crash involving three more stopped vehicles.
