Fire destroys north Vidor home

A family of four is without a home or possessions as the result of a fire in their home on Wednesday night. According to Orange County Emergency Services District #1 Fire Chief Robert Smith the young family arrived at their home on Kennedy north Vidor shortly before 6:30 p.m. last Wednesday to find their home engulfed in smoke. The couple was able to open the door to the house and release their pets that were inside the burning building before firefighters arrived.

OCESD Firefighters arrived to find flames coming from the roof and initiated a search of the burning building for any other persons that might be inside and found the home empty. Firefighters battled the blaze and were able to extinguish the flames. Chief Smith said there was major fire damage in the home. The American Red Cross was summoned to offer assistance to the young couple and their two toddlers.
