FEMA and State at odds about Imelda damage assessments

The City of Vidor and Orange County might not qualify for federal public assistance to pay for storm debris and disposal if the six Texas counties affected by Tropical Storm Imelda don’t meet a certain threshold of public assistance storm damage assessments.

While Imelda caused flood damage debris continues to sit in piles in front of homes and businesses throughout Vidor and Orange County, the State of Texas and the Federal Emergency Management Agency continues to disagree on the Public Assistance flood damage assessments for the six counties in the Presidentially declared disaster area this week.
