Running back Zach Seigrest is finally stopped after a big gain for the Pirates.

The Vidor Pirate varsity and junior varsity football teams held their first practice early Monday morning on the new artificial turf of Ivan Croak Field. Pirate head coach Jeff Mathews was pleased. “No ants, holes, wet grass or dust. It was great!” The Pirates’ first game on the new surface will be this Friday against the Conroe Caney Creek Panthers. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
