School District to reduce property tax rate by 7%

The Vidor I.S.D School Board of Trustees is in the process of mulling over the proposed 2019-2020 Vidor I.S.D. Annual District Budget. Two weeks ago, Vidor I.S.D. Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations presented a tentative, proposed school district budget to the Board of Trustees during a workshop meeting. It was at that meeting that trustees learned that due to school finance legislation passed by the Texas 86th Legislature earlier this year, the School Districts in the state of Texas would be required to reduce their property tax rates by an average of eight cents per $100 valuation of the appraised value of homes.

The tentatively proposed tax rate for the Vidor I.S.D. next January should be around $1.13613 per $100 valuation. If approved by the Board, that new tax rate should be about $0.0858 less per $100 valuation than the current Vidor I.S.D. tax rate of $1.22193 per $100 valuation.
