Based on the difficulty of finding a parking spot, Tuesday’s Lady Pirate volleyball scrimmage was a huge success. Based on sales of pizza slices, it was at least 25 percent larger, or hungrier, than previous years.

The Lady Pirates hosted East Chambers, Hardin Jefferson and Orangefield freshmen, junior varsity and varsity volleyball teams at Pirate Gym for a series of series of scrimmages lasting from 2-8 p.m.

Although it was a scrimmage, attendance was good with the event the first chance for each school to compete against a different school this year. Fans came and went as different levels of competition changed throughout the day, but attendance remained steady with about 200 fans in the stands throughout.
