Lady Pirates give thumbs up to new gym floor design

“They love it,” said Melissa Story, Lady Pirate volleyball head coach as she watched over volleyball skills practice Thursday morning in the high school gym.

Thursday was the first day for the Lady Pirates volleyball teams to practice on the recently refinished floor, still smelling of fresh paint, varnish, and wax.

The glistening surface was completely stripped before the updated Pirate motif was applied. After staining the main floor a darker, grayish color, applying the Vidor Pirate logo to center court and restriping in gold and white, the final top coat was applied, then waxed to a brilliant shine.
