After jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, the varsity Vidor Pirates did not score again until the top of the sixth, scoring a single run to increase their lead on the Memorial Titans to 3-0. The Pirates’ lead was short lived, however, as the Titans bats came alive in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 3-3. It would take three more innings before the game was decided.

The Pirates scored early when, with one out, Shane McKinley singled on a ground ball to third base and with two outs, Zach Seigrest doubled on a line drive to left field, scoring McKinley. Bladen Smith then singled on a line drive to the shortstop and scored Seigrest to give the Pirates a 2-0 lead.

After a scoreless four innings highlighted by great defensive play by both teams, the most active inning of the game saw Vidor increase their lead and Port Arthur erase it.

It was the top of the 6th inning when Bladen Smith singled on a line drive to right field with one out. After Vidor’s second out, Mason Brown also singled on a line drive to fight field, scoring Smith and giving the Pirates a 3-0 lead.
