Pirates sweep Cleveland for first district wins

The varsity Vidor Pirate baseball team swept the Cleveland Indians with wins at home and away last week, marking the first district wins of the season for Vidor.

On Tuesday, the Pirates traveled to Cleveland and defeated the Indians 16-3 in seven innings.

The Pirates scored in the first inning off a Zach Seigrest single that sent Shane McKinley home. A double by Shayne Midkiff in the second inning put him in position for Vidor’s second score off a Mason Brown single.

The Pirates scored two runs in the third after Braiden Baker singled, stole second base, reached third on an error and then scored on a passed ball.
