Pirates complete Cleveland sweep at home with 13-3 win

The Vidor Pirate varsity baseball team completed their sweep of Cleveland Friday in Vidor by defeating the Indians by a score of 13-3 in five and a half innings.

The Pirates led 13-0 after three, scoring three runs in the first, six in the second and four in the third.

With two batters grounding out, Braiden Baker singled and scored when Zach Seigrest doubled on a line drive to left field. Seigrest scored on a Bladen Smith double to the third baseman.

A single by Shayne Midkiff put runners on first and third when Cory Kizer grounded out, but not before Smith scored Vidor third run on an error by the Indian third baseman.

In the bottom of the second, Vidor added six more runs when Mason Brown singled, Taylor Lee walked and a Robbie McLemore single scored Brown. With Lee on third, Shane McKinley walked, loading the bases. Lee scored when Baker is hit by a pitch and when Zach Seigrest hits a single, McLemore and McKlinley scored and Baker advanced to third base. Now 7-0, a single by Bladen Smith scored Baker, and Seigrest, who had stolen second base.
