Pirate basketball notches 42-39 win over PNG

The drought is over. The varsity Vidor Pirate basketball team celebrated its first district win of the season with a 42-39 win over the Port Neches Groves Indians in Pirate Gym Tuesday night.

“We started very slow,” said Vidor Head Boys Basketball Coach Nate Smith. “

The Pirates were on the tail end of a 9-3 score after one quarter, but had closed the scoring gap to an18-15 deficit by the half.
