Scouting for Food is the annual Boy Scouts of America non-perishable food collection for agencies that serve the needy. Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will be leaving an empty bag at your front door not tomorrow, but on Saturday, February 16th.

Not this weekend but the following Saturday, February 16, 2019, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts Vidor, Pine Forest and Mauriceville will be coming to your front door to drop off an empty bag. Now they won’t be knocking on your door to interrupt your Saturday chores or activities. All the boys will be doing is leaving a bag that is marked with “Scouting for Food-A National Good Turn for America” and “GHX-Industrial” for you to fill with canned goods and non-perishable foods at your leisure.

But don’t take too long to fill that bag, because on the following Saturday, February 23rd, the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will return to your front door looking to find the bag of food you’ve left outside for them.

Annually, the Boy Scouts of America’s Three Rivers Council, the Southeast Texas Food Bank, and GHX Industrial collaborate on the Scouting for Food Drive. That collaborative effort involves sponsorship of the food collection bags by GHX Industrial, food collection by Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops associated with Three Rivers Council, and distribution of food by the Southeast Texas Food Bank.
