Meeting the fifth place state-ranked Memorial Titans in Pirate Gym Friday, the Vidor Pirates battled the district leaders gamely for four quarters, but the Titans prevailed 60-32.

Vidor had a distinct size disadvantage in the game that saw the Titan’s height and reach advantage put to good use. Many of the Pirates’ shots were blocked by the Titans’ towering over them. An extremely stingy Titan defense stymied the Pirate offense trying to set up a play and many shots were taken under pressure after driving on the basket.

The Pirates managed to keep the game close early with a first quarter score of 16-11. The Titans padded their lead by another five to end the first half with the score 27-17.
