County looks at moving OST

The County is considering paving Old Spanish Trail south of the UP tracks, but wants to move the road further from the lake’s shore line for a short distance.

No one is willing to reveal what prompted the decision, but the Orange County Commissioners Court authorized Orange County Engineer Clark Slacum to begin looking for professional services providers who may be able to provide engineering services to move a portion of Old Spanish Trail in Precinct #3.

The Court took this action at the following a closed door executive session ostensibly to discuss with the Orange County Assistant County Attorney Denise Gremillion matters regarding threatened or pending litigation.

“I cannot comment on pending litigation,” said Attorney Gremillion after the Commissioners’ Court meeting adjourned for the day. “I can tell you that the issues with Old Spanish Trail have been being looked into for a while. And in an effort to make the road safer for everyone there, we’re looking into moving it further away from the water.”
