Tough deer hunting, high water

When the deer season opened on the first Saturday in November, I thought that it would be a simple matter to take a deer. A buck maybe or a doe for sure. It really didn’t make me any difference because I had waited patiently for the whole month of October to pass so that I could have fresh venison. We had finished the last two vacuum packages of deer steaks and were waiting for the new stuff. On Friday afternoon prior to the opener I sat in one of my box blinds and watched four deer eat corn like it was candy. They were undisturbed and relaxed.
