Sales climb across county as recovery continues

Sales tax numbers are up across the board in Orange County as Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts continue to be reflected in sales of vehicles, household goods, building supplies, clothing and other items needed to repair or replace items lost in the storm.

 

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar sent cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $670.9 million in local sales tax allocations for March, 8.3 percent more than in March 2017. These allocations are based on sales made in January by businesses that report tax monthly.
