Long time VISD Trustee to step down

Only two entities have contested races in May

The filing period ended on Friday, two weeks ago, for most of the local elections to be held on May 5, 2018. Almost all cities, school district’s board of trustee, and special district boards of directors or commissioners have elected terms of offices that end in May of 2018. Since these elected offices are not generally associated with political party affiliations, candidates do not have to seek their party’s nomination, so they don’t have to run in a primary election. In fact, candidates can nominate themselves. One long time local office holder whose current term of office is ending in May is Vidor I.S.D. Trustee Rollie Burr. Burr has decided not to seek a ninth term as a school board trustee on the Vidor I.S.D. Board of Trustees.
