Seminoles blank Hurricanes 27-0 in season opener

Vidor’s own Golden Triangle Seminoles’ debut in Pirate Stadium was wet and muddy, but in spite of the less than perfect conditions, there were plenty of fireworks on the field as the Seminoles dominated the Katy Hurricanes 27-o. The Seminoles played a complete game, scoring through the air, on the ground and on defense.

The scoring began when Quarterback Trey Green found wide receiver Bradley Greene open inside the 10 at 13:39 in the first quarter and Greene hauled in an over the shoulder pass to put the Seminoles up by 6. The PAT was good and the Seminoles had a perfect start to the 2018 season.

Holding the ‘Canes to a three and out, the Seminoles began their second drive on the 42. A 16 yard toss to Brandon Tolliver was followed by a 12 yard run by Steve Bell, setting up another Green-Greene pass to the three yard line. But on first and goal, a miscommunication between the quarterback and receiver resulted in a Hurricane interception in the endzone that was run out to the 28.
