County storm debris collection extended

By George Garza

The Orange County Commissioners’ Court has voted to extend the FEMA Storm Debris Collection Project for as much as another six months. The original Hurricane Harvey FEMA storm debris collection project was slated to end on February 25 of this year following six months after the disaster declaration.

“We are dealing with isolated cases where we have residents that have been out of the area for an extended amount of time,” said Ralph Valenciano, Orange County’s Emergency Management Coordinator. “It ties in to the case by case issues that we have discussed in Commissioners’ Court multiple times. We are still evaluating those residents on a case-by-case basis and we see a need across the county, due to the extension availability, to execute that extension.”
