K-9 naming contest to wrap up today

By George Garza

The Vidor Police Department’s contest to name their new two-year-old Belgium Malinois police dog should wrap up with school children’s entries made on Friday, January 19th. Vidor Police chief Rod Carroll said that the entry forms with a caricature of a police dog wearing a vest, have been in the hands of the pre-kindergarten through fourth grade Vidor School children at all three Vidor elementary schools for them to color for about a week.

“We hope to give the school children of Vidor a sense of ownership and possession for their city’s police dog while teaching them about crime and illegal drugs that our K-9 is being trained to combat,” said Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll about the K-9 Naming Contest.
